Features & Product Details

Are you ready to upgrade your taillights to create a look of distinction unlike any other? Lamin-X taillight covers are setting a new customizing trend on the aftermarket scene. Not only do these taillight covers look good, but they offer improved protection against the unforgiving road. Their high quality transparent lens film is a flexible vinyl material with adhesive backing. It adds a unique look to your taillights while retaining the stock shape. In addition to the added protection you will receive from rocks and other road debris, the taillight covers prevent the hazy, yellow appearance caused by UV radiation and inferior taillight materials. Lamin-X is low maintenance and car wash safe.

$50 to drive yourself nuts! 4 years ago

Stay away from the pre-cut Lamin-X. I did a similar install on my old (new) 2015 wrx for the blinkers, that was easy since you aren't faced with the curves and edges in this case with the hatchbacks. Take a look at the double bump feature on the tail lights and now imagine trying to lay down a flat piece of plastic and squeegeeing out the kinks with pre-cut Lamin-x. You will drive yourself nuts trying to get it perfect, the trunk section of the taillight is fairly simple, once you try the outer taillights, forget about it. If you really want to do this yourself, take off the tail lights and purchase a large piece so you have plenty of room to work with. Get it professionally done or professionally do it yourself with the large piece of Lamin-x, you may end up spending more for material but is well worth it.

The small piece on the hatch door was cake, but the rest of the light was a pain. Lamin-X rates this install as a 3, but the curved piece alone is probably a 4 or 5. Definitely use a heat gun to stretch the film to fit. Either cut the film carefully or shove it underneath the body so you don't see any clear/white between your paint color and the film tint. You will need to take your time with this one. Or be like one guy on youtube and fight with it for a couple of hours and then take it to your local tint shop. ;)

Needs More Grip Tabs 8 years ago

Install for the centre (innermost lights was easy, no difficult curves, fairly flat, took about 5 mins to put them on. The outer lights however are totally diifferent ball game, they have this weird double bump on the lights which makes putting these on an absolute pain (if you stand next next to the light and look straight down at it you'll see them). what doesn't help is that the vinyl isn't big enough to stretch all the way up to the top of the light. If you are buying these keep in mind that you will need to heat and strtch the vinyl alot to get it to fit, but it will be able to make it though only barely. If there were more tabs around the edge to grab onto it would make the install far easier
