DOES WHAT IT SAYS
Not the strongest magnet in the world but it gets the job done and it looks pretty good under there. It picked up a decent amount of material after my rebuild. I wish I would have noticed that it was aluminum before I ordered but that was my bad as its clearly stated in the description.
I changed this out since my oil changes were not free anymore and im very impressed. The magnet is definitely stronger than OEM, plus it looks great if your underneath the car.
This drain plug fit better than the stock drain plug I had on the oil pan. I changed my oil a few times, and this drain plug removes metallic debris as advertised. Buy this for peace of mind. I do advise to get OEM crush washers every 2-3 oil changes for maximum effectiveness. I remember using the same crush washer for so long, that even though I thought it was tight, it was still leaking oil. Do yourself a favor and buy new crush washers.
Great plug, looks great and pulls in all unwanted particles that would otherwise be floating around.

Q: Rear Diff argofton8 years ago
In the description it says STi rear diff as well. Will this plug work on the 2012 WRX rear diff? Are they the same size plugs as the oil drain plug?

A: Most WRX models, including 2012, use a 3/4in JNPT plug for the rear differential. This is not the correct plug for the rear diff on your WRX, but Dimple offers one and the part number is DIM 3/4JNPT.

Q: transmission drain and fill plug nathan.a.shelton1865369 years ago
On the 2008+ the non T70 front diff and fill bolts are 10mm Allen head bolts. Do you know what size they are? Do you have any plugs with magnets that will fit? These don't have a magnet, the T70 bolt does.

A: Unfortunately we don't know what size exactly the transmission or rear differential bolts. We've been watching for magnetic drain bolts for these but have been unable to find any so far.

A: So I contacted Richard at http://www.drainplugmagnets.com/subaru.php and he ordered the 2011 STI transmission fill bolt and front diff drain bolt. The size is M18X1.5X12. I can forward the email to you if you would like. The rear diff has a stock magnetic plug.

Do you need to change the washer every time like the stock one?

A: Due to the washer being a crush style gasket, I do suggest replacing the gasket with every oil change.
