I had a Kartboy shifter in my first WRX, an '02 I bought new in 2001, and loved it. Glad to see their quality is still top notch. Everything went together perfectly. The throw is incredibly short and precise. Huge improvement over what was already a decent shifter. Thanks to RallySportDirect for the install video. It was very useful since this kit came without any instructions. That would be my only knock, instructions would be very helpful.

This is the type of mod where having the right tools helps tremendously. 3/16 roll pin punch and a pneumatic palm nailer both from amazon and this took like an hour, maybe less. This alone makes the shifts nice and tight front to back. Combining this with a shift stop, a transmission mount, and maybe a heavy shift knob (preference) really makes things awesome.

Awesome upgrade, especially with the Cable Shifter Stop. The plate install is entirely under the car and you have to remove a bunch of stuff to get to it. The only difficult part is the pin that you have to hammer out with a punch. Make sure you get two punches of good quality because it's REALLY hard to get that thing out. You can fit a 7/32 punch in there, but 1/4 is too big. The punch will start to mushroom a bit, depending on the quality. Seems like I hammered that thing out for close to an hour. Putting it back in isn't as bad--just make sure you watch a couple videos on the install first. This plate weighs probably less than half of the OEM plate and it creates a nice, stiff, notchy feel that you will love. I'll probably experiment with a heavier shift knob just for fun, but it's really not needed.

Normally I don't do review, but I felt this kit was worth it. It makes the stock shifter feel better and shorter than the sti short shifter. The build quality is top notch and the install was straight forward and easy. At first its it seams hard to shift, but and you get used to it and will love it. You wont regret this purchase.

A: The bearing included here is not the same as that Perrin Bushing. To purchase the kit separately you will need part numbers: KAR KB-003-B , KAR KB-003LOC

A: This is essentially the same as the Perrin adapter. Both work quite well and will have similar performance.
