Kartboy Rear Subframe Lockdown Bolts
Subaru Models (inc. 2002-2007 WRX/STi)
Features & Product Details
RallySport Direct proudly carries a great selection of quality engineered drivetrain, suspension, and performance upgrades and accessories brought to you by Kartboy.
These are the Kartboy Rear Subframe Lockdown Bolts. It is common for the rear subframe to have excessive movement under lateral loads, and Kartboy helps to relieve this issue with their Rear Subframe Lockdown Bolts. This kit includes a pair of bolts that are installed into sleeves that will keep your subframe locked in place without the risk of affecting your alignment among other things that can happen once our factory subframe bolts come loose.

For the price and easy install, this became a 'Why not?' purchase. Not as big of an upgrade as I have read from others, but with all the other suspension upgrades/improvements I have, this fell into my cart. Happy with the things I did notice and helps with the extra weight of the wagon body style.
These are such a relatively inexpensive and impactful addition to your rear subframe suspension. Key things to note are to use an m12 x 1.25 tap and tapping fluid to clean out and recut the threads just from all the rust and road debris that gets kicked up inside the threads (it will save you a headache most likely) and loosening the 4 subframe bolts located just next to the thread holes to make sure everything seats together niecly. I used anti-seize on the bolts before I put them in and torqued the lockdown bolts to 60ft-lbs before re tightening the subframe bolts to 90 ft-lbs going back around to all bolts after everything was put back in just to make sure everything was all tightened to spec. Let me tell oyu how much of a difference it feels like. side to side movement is sturdy and solid with virtually no body roll anymore, upon start up (for my car atleast) there is no shutter in the rear by the diff. from everything being loose, throttle repsonse is a little better seeing as how the rear is now secured down to the frame. I would highly recommend anyone with an 02-07 GD chassis to invest in these, they are incredibly worth it and take about 30 minutes to install.
Of all of my bushing upgrades, this was probably the easiest to install. It also added very noticeable rigidity to the entire car. Its easy, cheap, and noticeably improves the feel of the car. Stop reading reviews and just add these bolts to your next order!
The two piece design allows for the collar to stay in place while the bolt is tightened. Much better than the one piece imo
Contrary to the confirmed fitment for my 2002 TS, these bolts DO NOT fit as my rear subframe capture nut hole is too small to accept the M12x1,25 bolt. After measuring, it turns out mine is M10x1,25. Also confirmed on a friends 04 TS wagon as well...... So 1 Star rating for misleading confirmed fitment.....

A: It is not required to, however, because your car is a bit older, you may want to consider using a chaser tap to clean up the threads before you install these. The holes where these are installed are threaded from the factory but there are no bolts that are installed from the factory so the holes are exposed and can get dirty over time.

A: Yes, these would work with no issues on your 99 RS. Just make sure to clean off the threads on the vehicle side to ensure they are free from rust and other grime.

Q: Susp. height hrvelez10 years ago
Does this bolts get the suspension 1/4 lower as stated on the reviews?

A: Kartboy has confirmed that these bolts should not have any affect on the suspension height because the the subframe is already locked down on height. The bolts are intended to eliminate movement rather than compress the subframe to the body.

A: According to my chart here these bolts would use an M14x1.25 tap.

A: The tap needed on my 03 WRX was a M12x1.25. I followed the advice and first bought the size 14 and it was too big. FYI, save yourself an extra trip to the hardware store.

A: Don't give false information about the parts you're selling if you don't know what you're selling Tanner it's an M12 by 1.25 for the cart boy Botox bolts if anybody else wondered
