Parroting other reviewers, comes with 4 "male" bushings, and some of the nubs need to be cut off. Take a look at the set being removed, and match them. The bushings cut easy with a razor blade / box cutter. Considering the work involves releasing the motor mounts and jacking the transmission, I definitely recommend replacing the transmission and motor mounts, too. If one has failed, the others are very likely worn out.

Was driving my vehicle one day, and noticed a slight clunk noise upon acceleration. Inspected my transmission crossmember bushings and saw they were torn. Came across Kartboy transmission mount bushings and great price as well. Decided to purchase them and install them. Great product. Very happy with results and quality!

Just installed these and the change in feeling is immense. After this install my shifter stopped shaking at idle and the shifts feel so much precise, still pending to change the side bushings of the shifter but it already feel so much better. I had to modify 1 of the 4 bushings on this package to make it "female" since the 4 of them come all as "male", it was 1 simple cut and ready to install

On contrary to most of people, I installed these bushings but kept the same trans mount since it was in pretty good condition. But even though the mount was good I was feeling my drivetrain as a wiggle boy, after installing the kartboy bushings the feeling was so much better, now I can accelerate without feeling my drivetrain as a sailboat in midstorm. Additional note: all the bushings in this kit are "male" so I did modified one of the bushings to make it fit as the OEM "female" one on the front set, the rear set fit just fine using both male bushings

Installed in an 07 Forester XT 5 speed manual. Overall, worth the time and money. There is the tiniest NVH, at some RPMs I can hear the transmission gears whine. If the radio is on its drowned out, I really have to listen for it. There were a few issues with the install. First, the package comes with 4 identical bushings, all of the have the male shape, with the protruding rings. On the car though, 2 of the 4 bushings are slightly female, with a recession where the male piece of the other bushing marries up. It's not anywhere in the packaging or instructions, I found a NASIOC forum post from a Kartboy representative explaining that you have to trim down two of the bushings to make them have the female shape. This was a cost reduction so they could avoid making multiple molds. It's a $30 part. I easily would pay $60 to avoid the risk of damaging the bushing by cutting into it. Second, installing them requires removing the transmission crossmember, then sandwiching the bushings between the chassis and the crossmember. You'll have to prop up the trans and hold a number of things in place while trying to push parts together and thread a bolt. I'd get a friend to help with this one.

Q: Which side goes against the bolts? frank.4 years ago
I just got some crossmember transmission bushings and was wondering how they properly go on. One side is flat and one side has the circles slightly protruding. Which side faces the bolts and faces away? Or does it not matter?

A: The protruding circles will face each other and fit inside the holes on the transmission mount.

A: These bushings will only work on manual transmission crossmembers because automatic crossmembers do not use bushings.
