Kartboy Shifter Bushing Combo
Subaru 5MT Models (inc. 2002-2014 WRX)
Features & Product Details
This is the Kartboy shifter bushing combination for the 5 speed found on most Subaru models. However be sure to check on your confirmed applications list to make sure this will work on your vehicle.
This kit will eliminate any excessive play in your shifter mechanism due to tired, or worn out shifter bushings. With simple hand tools this kit can be installed on average in about 30 minutes. These bushings are 100% hand made in the U.S.A., and are made from high grade polyurethane to help restore and tighten your shifter feel.

One of my first mods. Still feels amazing.
These bushings made a huge difference in the shifter. Took all the slop out that the factory bishings had. Shifts are much tighter
My old bushings were blown. The shifter had so much slop. It felt like neutral in every gear. The kartboy bushings tightened everything up substantially. Huge improvement and a fairly straightforward install
I will be honest I can't tell how much of this is attributed to the bushing combo because I also replaced the shift linkage U-joint. That being said, it now feels like my Forester has a brand new gear shifter. I had a lot of free play before and now everything is crisp and clean. I had it installed though so I cannot speak to ease of install. I rated it neutral accordingly.
Can't tell you how much these improve the shifter feel. Much tighter and precise compared to the OEM bushings and its easy to tell why. Install isn't terrible but isn't the easiest thing I've ever done.

Q: Rear hardware size Loganoak3 years ago
I purchased this and waited a while to put it on. In the process I ended up losing the hardware. Can you provide the thread size and length and details so I can purchase them?

A: Kartboy doesn't sell the hardware separately unfortunately, but you should be able to find some replacement bolts, I'm not 100% sure of the thread pitch, but M12x1.25 or M12x1.5 is usually a good start.

Q: Fitment Question mitchellkid8 years ago
I was trying to install the rear bushing and ran into an issue. When I lined the bolt holes up, I couldn't get the shifter linked up. And when I lined up the shifter, I couldn't get the bolt holes lined up. Am I just a dummy or is there a trick to it? I currently have the Kartboy short shifter installed.

A: We recommend lubricating the rear bushing so the linkage will be able to slide a little bit, and that should allow you to line both up at the same time. Also make sure the rear bushing is being installed so that the front of the bushing is nearly vertical (correct side up).
