This is the Kartboy short shifter and bushing combo for the 04-15 Subaru STI. This kit completely replaces your factory shifter mechanism and will also restore any excessive shifter movement due to tired or worn-out shifter bushings.
Included is the short throw shifter kit which will decrease the shift throw by 40% and included are the rest of the shifter bushings needed to complete the job. This installation can be performed with proper lifting of the vehicle, and typical hand tools. Save a little money by ordering as a kit rather than ordering the parts individually.

This is am amazing shifter! I loved it so much on my '05 STi that I had to get one for my '15 STi too. The shifter has a nice click feel that gives you confidence you are in the right gear and fully engaged. The only downside is the lack of an extra pin for the reverse lockout cable. The stock one went flying and I couldn't find it. Unfortunately Subaru dealers don't stock these either so a $0.54 part took my car down for a week. I recommend thing a string to the pin to get it started.

I Purchased the shifter plus the bushings for my 2020 STI. I made sure that I knew what to do before touching the car. There is a number of great videos on UTube that show the installation to completion. Class a list of tools. The videos don’t show everything, so you will have to figure out some things. Believe me, I’m not the worlds best mechanic but I was able to do the work. Replacing the bushings does make a difference on the way the car shifts. The one thing about the bushing replacement is it transmits the transmission noise into the interior. I mean it will transmit the gear noise inside the car. If you have ever heard a sequential transmission. That’s a little bit of how it sounds. If you don’t want that noise, I would just go with the STI stock bushings. I have not driven the car on the highway yet so I don’t know how noisy it is in that situation. All-around good quality just as good as OEM.

The best short throw shifter I I have ever owned. The throws as so crisp and there is no more slope that the stock short throw shifter that came with my 2019 Subaru STI had. However, because the throws are so short, the reverse lockout no longer works. I never cared for it in the first place. But, it can be fixed if you re-rig the cable that now has a lot of slack.

This fixes more problems than it creates so its worth buying. It fixes 4 to 5 shifting. But if you set it up nice and notchy 5 to 4 gets stuck. Plus double clutching reverse becomes mandatory. Find a balance between tight and loose shifter feel. Iv owned manual turbos for 19 years, this is the worst transmission iv ever driven. Savn for a ppg set already.

It really enhances the shifter feeling and connection with the car’s drive train! Shifting is quicker and more precise. I highly recommend this as and relatively easy to do yourself upgrade. The only things to look out for is getting the rear bushing into place so the bolts can line up and dealing with the reverse lock out pin. Be careful, have all the recommended tools and you’ll be just fine!!!
