RallySport Direct proudly carries a large selection of quality high-performance master-crafted exhaust options brought to you by Invidia.
This is the Invidia N1 Cat-Back Exhaust System. The N1 is one of Invidia's most popular cat-back options offered in their catalog due to the quality stainless steel construction that combines smooth bends with an increase in piping diameter. This allows for an unobstructed flow path for the exhaust gases to exit which will increase both the horsepower and the torque while improving the overall throttle response. Additionally, users will be rewarded with the race-inspired sound this exhaust system will create which will make the overall driving experience much more enjoyable.

Before you buy this make sure you have the following handy: ratchet with metric socket set, adjustable wrench, pb blaster, cold chisel(or beefy Flathead) and Hammer, 2jackstands and car Jack, exhaust spring bolt kit, donut exhaust gasket, highest temp silicone sealant you can find, and a buddy. You would think this is an easy install and it can be. But if you want to do it right, you have to do some cleaning. After removing the oem exhaust, more than likely your bolts and gasket from the cat are rusted out or even broken like in my case. Depending on where you live of course. Hit the flange with pb and chisel that gunk out. I took a wire brush next and finally sanded it down. Put the silicone around the gasket, all sides of the flange and coat some more after spring bolts are in. I say you need a buddy because I needed someone to push clockwise on the elbow where the exhaust bends to get enough clearance to fit the spring bolts. Also, those hangers are a b#$_&. Oh, and install the downpipe to the tail pipe before mounting with supplied gasket and use the sealant. Start it and enjoy. Hope this helps
Lemme first start off with saying this catback sounds great. You can hear the exhaust much more clearly when idling (a plus for me), sounds great when revving, downshifting or accelerating, and not too droney on the freeway. For me it starts droning at about 80-85 mph, but I don't drive that fast most of the time so it's not too bothersome. Removing the stock catback was a little trickier than I had hoped but spraying WD-40 on the bolts holding the stock exhaust onto the cat-pipe made them come apart real easily. The hardest part was popping the rubber exhaust hangars off the mounts on the car, WD-40 helped but I was definitely tugging for a while before they slid off. Installing was much easier, almost the reverse of removal process. Having a buddy to help is definitely a good idea. I did however have to trim the exhaust cutout on the bumper. The tailpipe was rubbing on the plastic and melting it, trimming away the plastic (not a ton) fixed the problem. Buying longer exhaust hangars would have prevented this but oh well. And as for the main concern, performance. I did lose a small, but noticeable amount of low-end torque. Not surprising with less back-pressure with the wider diameter piping, though. But thats not what us NA guys care about the sound makes up for it! TL/DR: Totally worth it if you can fork over the money.
Combined this with uel headers and a cat less midpipe on my impreza and it sounds fantastic and looks amazing as well. Because my setup is aftermarket I did have to make a small section of pipe to fit the catback to the midpipe but a welder 2 flanges a $6 piece of pipe and 15 minutes fixed that.
Just installed on a 2008 Impreza 2.5i. Perfect fit, simple install and sounds great.
only took about 1hr 30min + trip to hardware store cause both bolts broke that were on the cat. Sounds really nice, deep, and looks really good. Ill post a pic later this week.

Q: 2 bolt or 3 bolt flange? cutter6 years ago
I see the N1 exhaust has a 2 bolt flange for the catalytic converter. From all the pictures online it looked like the factory cat is a 3 bolt triangle flange is there any modification needed?

A: This is a 2 bolt flange style exhaust and so is your factory downpipe. This is a direct fit for your car if your vehicle is listed in the application guide.

Will this increase the performance in terms of MPG or Acceleration? Is there any sound clips of this? Does this single exit have an advantage to the stock dual exit?

A: There most likely wont be more than 5HP or MPG, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhBrvwI9rw4 is a very good sound clip for the exhaust.

Q: Invidia N1 catback exhaust NY2.5i 7 years ago
Is their any way to find a video of or write instructions for proper installation, do I need any other parts to make the car pass emissions for New York?

A: We do not have an installation video but it is going to be similar to an OEM replacement exhaust except with the use of the 2.5" downpipe to 3" catback adapter. All parts are meant for offroad use only and you would have to confirm with your local safety and emissions office about the legality of aftermarket products.
