This isn’t the first invidia exhaust I’ve put on a Subaru, as everyone who know Subarus changing a cat back can be done in a garage in a few mins. All of the part bolt up as they should, came with all the gaskets and hardware needed. Looks great. My only strike against it is the tip is offset from the notch in the bumper to the point of rubbing and the very rear rubber hangers are a little off from the post welded on the very rear section/can. Can get them on the hangers but 500+ for a couple of pieces of bent pipe you’d expect it to be right on... it is loud! Sounds amazing as you would expect. Can be heard clearly from inside the car as well as freeway drone, also expected as with most performance exhaust setups. I would put this in the top 5 loudest for a Subaru sti. Also in top 5 for free flowing preformance.
This is the perfect exhaust for those looking for the classic subie rumble. Be sure to get the downpipe made by invidia to go with it sounds even more amazing with it. Arrived much sooner than expected. Perfectly cleaned and polished exhaust looked like it was shipped from the factory right to my house.
I bought this to replace my stock exhaust that had loose baffling in the muffler which was rattling. I am happy with the look and sound of this exhaust. One thing that was not great is that after installing the exhaust with the hangers that came with it, it would rattle against a heat shield under certain loads. I had to get a longer hanger for one of the mounting points and that solved the issue.
Not much to say other than that it looks good and sounds great. I had someone else install it. They installed the silencer, which I removed once I got home. One issue that I had, which was easily resolved, is that sometimes when downshifting, or rolling slowly, like through a parking lot, the drivetrain would torque in a way that would cause it to vibrate against the exhaust. I fixed this by getting a few slightly longer hangers, which created enough space to prevent the contact.
The deep sound is amazing even at idle. Its not too loud it is just right

Q: Difference between race and resonated Suli7 years ago
I know the race exhaust is louder but does it take away the subie rumble that the resonated cbe has? Also im not sure but does aftermarket exhaust give the popping sounds on decel or is that something else?

A: The rumble will not be removed unless you switch to an equal length header, although without the resonator the sound will be a lot more raspy. Afterfires in the exhaust are not caused by the exhaust system, but a more open system can make them more audible.

Q: Fitment and Sound Suli7 years ago
Do the invidia catback systems fit onto a stock 02 wrx downpipe? Also does the race catback not give the subaru rumble? or is that only with the n1?

A: Yes this exhaust will work with your OEM downpipe as long as you have the correct adapter and this exhaust keeps the rumble.

Q: Invidia N1 Race CBE - 2007 WTR TR Sedan Kats7 years ago
Will this fit directly to the stock Downpipe or will I have to purchase a gasket? Also my vehicle is lowered about 2 inches so would you guys recommend different hangers?

A: While it is not required, I do recommend getting a Grimmspeed OEM downpipe to 3" catback adapter and a new OEM donut gasket. Using this adapter will help prevent any exhaust leaks. Some customers buy the extended hangers to have the exhaust sit farther from the bumper, but they wont be required.
