Features & Product Details

Designed for applications that demand the greatest airflow and cooling capabilities, the Mishimoto STI Front-Mount Intercooler Kit will provide your Subaru with the ability to make the most horsepower and torque possible. The Mishimoto front-mount intercooler was designed with a large 28" intercooler core that provides the maximum cooling capability without excessive pressure drops that will wear out any turbocharger over time. The Mishimoto STI intercooler features smooth cast end tanks that are CFD tested for maximum airflow with no sharp walls or bends from cut-and-weld end tanks that disrupt airflow. The intercooler provides the best airflow and heat-exchange properties for those time-attack laps, or a 10-second blast down the quarter mile.

The Mishimoto Subaru STI Front-Mount Intercooler also features four mandrel-bent aluminum pipes for optimum airflow. The hot-side pipes are 2.25" in diameter to keep airflow velocities high, giving your car an instant response without excessive throttle lag that plagues many front-mount intercooler designs. The cold side of the system features 3" mandrel-bent aluminum tubing for maximum airflow, and to match the diameter of your throttle body. The kit is compatible with both stock and aftermarket bypass or blow-off valves.

The kit contains everything needed for a worry-free installation, including an application-specific crash bar that both supports the intercooler and mounts to existing points on the vehicle. No cutting or drilling is required to install the crash bar and intercooler. The kit includes all necessary mounting brackets, including a relocation bracket for the coolant overflow bottle. All mounting brackets come with applicable hardware, zip ties, and thermal wrap. The kit also includes every coupler and clamp you need for a clean install. For larger-than-stock turbos, Mishimoto has included a larger turbo hot-side pipe that will fit turbochargers with an outlet of 2"–2.13". Mishimoto tested this intercooler on their 320 whp STI to find significant drops in AITs (air intake temperatures), and the intercooler has also been flow tested to over 600 whp!

Does its job 110% 4 years ago
5out of 5stars

Aside from UPS managing to lose my order and it taking some extra time to get, RSD was with me through the whole thing. Awesome job from them. With this front mount, its awesome. Never any heat soak and I dont feel any difference in spool. Im also running the stock turbo for now and it feels so much more consistent with 0 heat soak. Where i live the speed limit is 35 max, so with the top mount I was always heat soaked in town. That is no longer an issue. When i pull into the garage I can feel the intercooler and there is a huge difference from where the hot air and the cold air goes through. I did have to trim a lot of the bumper on the inside and I also had to cut out almost all of the fog light mounts so the piping would fit with the on. That is some weight saving right there.

  • Q: Turbo and CAI  RallyBlueSTI3 years ago

I was wondering if you need an aftermarket turbo to run this FMI and what type of wastegate it needs. I also have a GrimmSpeed Cold Air Intake and would like to know if this is compatible.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This intercooler will not require an aftermarket turbo or specific type of wastegate. The Grimmspeed CAI will likely not be compatible with the intercooler piping in this kit. You may need to switch to a short ram intake.

  • Q: Bumper modification / foglights  Bobsagget3 years ago

I am assuming the fog lights would have to be removed? The review seems to contradict the specs regarding modification of the bumper. Can anyone confirm?

A:  Mishimoto claims that no cutting is required, but some cars may need some trimming due to variation in fitment. Your factory fog lights will not be retained.

  • Q: pipes getting hot  buRashid4 years ago

my friends says that the mishimoto intercooler is perfect but the thing is the pipes of the intercooler get hot ? so any comment ?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Thats a great question. Often times the piping will get warm due to being in the engine bay. A good option is to use a type of heat wrap to reflect heat away from the piping, I will include the link below.
