Installed this on my built 2012 WRX sedan with catless down pipe perrin equal header with egr and tvg deletes with grimmspeed uppipe and blouch 20g turbo and it sound great wanted to see how much louder it would be than the q300 is a little louder than the q300 but not that much it is just really deep sounding if you the sound of the n1 but do not have to worry about getting pulled over than this is the exhaust you want. Also this midpipe is like inch longer than the one that comes with the q300 exhaust since there is a less of a bend in the flex joint and take some adjusting to get the q300 mufflers to sit right with out sticking out too much.
After installation (2013 wrx) with the stock downpipe and the grimmspeed bracket to attach a 3" exhaust to the stock downpipe, the tips stick out the back about 1.5" and the driver side sticks out just a little bit more, causing it to look a little uneven. Really bugs me, as I am extremely OCD about lining things up and having them look perfect. You cant really tell if you are just glancing at the car, but if you look at it from the rear or angle for awhile you can definatly notice it. I attempted to lossen and re-align everything at least 4 times, and still no movement to tuck the tips in further. I assume without the grimmspeed bracket, and a 3" downpipe you could achieve perfect fitment, but as of right now I dont plan on going stage 2, so in the future i will give it a try when I do up/down pipes. But as for the sound it is unbelievable, I ordered the exhaust and was worried about "what if this exhaust only sounds a little better than my spt exhaust, is it really worth the money" hands down i completely underestimated the exhaust, my spt had a nice little grumble to it, but this one is like 3x louder (I like em loud) when I am in a higher gear it is hardly noticeable, but when I step on the gas, woohoo! The spt was very subtle compared to the r400. It is LOUD but not obnoxiously loud, it's the perfect kind of loud! Anyone debating getting this exhaust, stop thinking, breakout that credit card and get this baby ordered. Just be aware that if you are mating the stock downpipe to this CBE you will need the grimmspeed bracket (and new donut gasket) and will have slight fitment issues. I would have liked to have known this before ordering/installing so I didnt waste like 2 hours trying to get it to fit right, just a heads up to all ordering this exhaust.
I had to replace my clutch on my 2013 WRX and figured I’d do the turbo back exhaust. The R400 paired with the Invidia catted downpipe are beautiful. The sound is amazing but LOUD. Cruising on the pkwy at 70mph in 5th gear there is minimal drone but she grumbles as soon as you get on her. I am going to install 80mil sound deadening with 394 mil insulated sound deadening in the really troublesome areas to keep the grumble outside of the car. Overall, sounds awesome and looks great. Thanks to Joe at Redline Autosports in Floral Park, NY for another great installation.
I got this catback in hopes of finding something that had a nice loud rumble to it, but wasnt too obnoxious (like the invidia N1). This exhaust did just that. It looks great, sounds great, and there is NO DRONE on the highway. Immediately after install, I took my car on an 8 hour drive and I had no complaints. but trust me, it sounds f***ing sweet from the outside!!!
