Thermo Tec Exhaust / Header Wrap Graphite Black 2in x 50ft - Universal
Manufacturer Part # 11022
Bundle Savings:MSRP: $60.50
The Graphite Black Exhaust Insulating Header Wrap was developed over 12 years ago by Thermo-Tec. Exhaust Insulating Header Wrap is an innovative way to create more horsepower and reduce under-hood temperatures.
Wrapping headers maintain hotter exhaust gases that exit the system faster through decreased density. Increased exhaust scavenging is produced, along with lower intake temperatures. Exhaust Insulating Wrap withstands continuous heat up to 2000°F, and contains no asbestos.
Thermo-Tec exhaust wrap will not over-insulate a system when properly installed due to a proprietary coating developed by Thermo-Tec - Thermal Conduction Technology (TCT) - that conducts heat across the wrap's surface. This coating controls heat build-up and dissipation.
Note that this wrap will come in a 2 in by 50 ft section and in the graphite black finish.

great product: (IMPORTANT TIP: don't wrap more than 1 pass from top off downpipe because your nuts wont be able to go back on. ) I did 3 passes at the top of downpipe and had to re-wrap mine. 50ft will do the whole downpipe no problem. ALSO when first installed and went for a test drive the wrap started smoking from the heat and smelled really bad. but after a few days it finally broke in and doesn't smell anymore.

smells really bad when first installed but it goes away after a few days driving the car. make sure to soak it in water before installing and make sure to wrap the whole downpipe, don't worry about double wrapping it , 50ft is enough for a single wrap. (IMPORTANT TIP: do a single pass when wrappping from the top of downpipe or you will have trouble putting on the nuts back on) I did 3 wraps and couldn't put the nuts back on when installing it back on ,so I had to re wrap it. fyi

Good quality wrap, let it soak in some water before I applied it and I cleaned the surface aswell. Dont be alarmed if you smoke a little when you first install the part mine stopped after about 50ish miles or so.

This wrap is awesome, wear gloves when installing due to little bits of fiber glass that will cause some itching. Put it on my '06 WRX. Buy some hose clamps to secure the wrap on the pipe. IT WILL SMOKE THE FIRST 10 MILES after you install it... do not be alarmed. and then your car will smell like a toaster for the next week but this is normal. DO NOT FREAK OUT haha. have fun!
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Q: Catalytic Converter PJ87 4 years agoAnswer
Would it be disadvantageous to wrap the cat? I've seen conflicting opinions and don't want to cause any damage.
A: Given that the welds are quality on the pipe there would be no issues with wrapping the cat.

A: Providing you follow the recommended overlap of 1/4 you can certainly install this directly to the cat. Exceeding this overlap can possibly result in too much heat being retained.

Hey is this stuff sticky or something like how do you wrap it?
A: To securely fasten your exhaust wrap, begin and finish your wrap with Thermo Tec Snap Straps (SS zip-ties), safety wire or traditional hose clamps.
Cool It ThermoTec 5 years ago
A: The instructions require you to wet the wrap in which case it expands, then shortly after the wrap dries and shrinks, causing it to secure itself to the pipe if overlapped properly.
