Pump sock does not fit. Reuse the OEM one.  3 years ago
    1out of 5stars

"Makes installation of the Walbro GSS342 into the Subaru WRX and STI very quick and easy." This is not the case. The Walbro pump sock does not fit the STi slosh box and I found that out after pressing the retaining washer on the delicate plastic post of the Walbro pump whereas the OEM pump is metal. You would have to hack the slosh box apart to the point of it not being worth using anymore in order to get the supplied pump sock to fit correctly. Getting the retention washer back off in order to use the OEM pump sock scraped a bunch of material off the plastic post so I ended up reusing OEM star shaped retention washer since it grabbed the now shaved post better. Removing the OEM star shaped retention washer requires bending the the little fingers up with a jewelers screwdriver so I flattened the washer in a vise before reinstalling it. I found no mention of the fitment issue until I went on the NASIOC forums to find out why the Walbro sock didn't fit and also found people complaining of the Walbro sock collapsing under low fuel conditions whereas the OEM sock had plastic reinforcement bars. This would have been good information to know before creating the extra work and dumpster diving for the OEM stuff I wasn't aware that I needed.

worked as advertised, but didn't need all the parts 5 years ago
    4out of 5stars

Used for a fuel filter/pump change on a 2007 WRX. Didn't need the electrical connector, and didn't need the fuel hose and clamps, but used the hose and clamps anyway. Rubber isolator fit well on the Walbro. Filter sock was fine as well. I would recommend RSD add the little friction-fit filter sock lock washer to the kit. I nearly lost mine during the removal process, and would have set back my installation a bit while I ran to the parts store. Otherwise, not a bad kit, and provides some insurance to get the job done at one time with the right parts.

not that great if your on a budget. 6 years ago
    3out of 5stars

the only part I absolutely needed from this kit was the tiny washer that holds the pre fuel filter to the fuel pump. I also used the new rubber stop just to use it but could have re used the oem one. I paid 30 bucks for a tiny lock washer. I still gave this 3 stars because you dont know what your going to have until you pull out the fuel pump assembly but my car has 108k miles on it and everything was in great shape.

    • Q: Would this work for a 450lph walbro?  frank.3 months ago

I'm thinking of buying the 450lph e85 walbro. Would this make it plug and play for it as well?
    • Q: fuel filter  Pdad4 years ago

im planning to change my stock fuel pump, do i need to change to the fuel filter as well the one above the pump and are you selling that too beside the filter sock?
    • Q: 2008 Subaru STi  smjfifa020095 years ago

Hi would this installation kit fit 2008 sti? If not which one does?
      • 0 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This kit would not work for your car. Unfortunately we do not have a kit for 08+ STI as the Walbro 255 requires modification to the stock fuel pump housing in order to fit.

    • Q: manual  Angelo Junior5 years ago

This kit comes with a installation manual?
      • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  No manual is included with this kit, it is essentially a direct replacement of the OEM unit so referring to a factory service manual or enthusiasts manual will be best.
