Description

ACT flywheels are lighter, stronger and safer than stock cast flywheels to meet the needs of both enthusiast and hard core racer. Material is properly distributed for maximum strength, lower inertia, good heat tolerance and rigidity. Precision machined threads will not easily strip out or get damaged like those found on aluminum flywheels. ACT engineers XACT flywheels using the latest CAD and FEA (finite element analysis) software to evaluate all design alternatives to get the best results possible. By hot forging chrome-moly steel, each flywheel yields an ultra fine centralized grain structure that is superior in strength to any other manufacturing method. ACT gives extra effort to strategically slot XACT ProLite flywheels to lower inertia without sacrificing strength and heat dissipation. All flywheels are CNC machined and dynamically computer balanced for super smooth high RPM reliability.

This Flywheel is meant to replace your OEM Subaru flywheel. ProLite Flywheels are recommended for race applications and often can trigger a CEL. If using for Street, look into the StreetLite Flywheel. This ProLite Flywheel is 10.1 LBS.

If you have a 2005-2009 Legacy GT and are putting in a WRX Clutch you need to use this flywheel.

AMAZING

My set up - 2007 WRX, 21PSI peak my tune I did, stage 1 clutch, CAI, turbo back. I have been using this flywheel for over 1400miles. You do feel a difference vs stock in a DD. I have thrown a mis fire before when I run a stock tune but not sure if its the flywheel or other issues as this was a used car and is on its 5th short block and now 3rd cam sprocket replacement on both sides from the previous owner never changing fluids. On my tune I have done over 900 miles and not thrown any codes which most people will put on a tune if they get this and other bolt ons. When letting off the gas and coasting on a off ramp its a little noisy. RPMs can jump very quickly. I have seen some increase their 0-60 and 1/4 times up to .2seconds but I had a decease of .05-.1 seconds if not the same once I got used to the drop in weight. I'm very happy I bought this for my project.

Stellar Flywheel for Rally
farbeyondriven22663 5 years ago
I have the 10.1 lb flywheel behind my eg33 in my rally car paired with a ACT HD clutch. This flywheel allows the engine to rev quick as lightning. Wonderful for heel toe shifting and rapid gear changes. A little chatter when not in gear, but thats to be expected. I would not recommend this light of a flywheel for drag racing or a turbo car as it is not great for launching the car unless you have a bit of low end torque. Once your under way, its an absolute dream. Ill use it again when I build another rally car.

  • Q: matching with a clutch   danielspead15589 3 years ago

    Answer

Will this flywheel Bolt up with a competition clutch stage 2 pressure plate for a 08+ wrx?

    • A: That specific clutch is a proprietary clutch so it will not work with this specific flywheel. Have a nice day.

  • Q: not for DD?  vash337 7 years ago

    Answer

im new to the wrx scene, buying a 2011 sedan. ive been driving an rsx-s w/ the 9.6 prolite flywheel for years DD. other than a cel *which im hoping can be fixed w/ accessport?* is there any other reason to not get this for DD

    • A: Yes, the CEL can be cleared though the AccessPORT, but it may come back. Basically the Lightweight flywheel tricks the sensors into think that there is a misfire when in reality the car is running great. It will not harm the engine or hurt performance, but it is annoying. And with a stock crank pulley it is possible you may not get a CEL, but with a lightweight pulley, I would suspect that you would see a CEL for sure. Other than the CEL, lightweight flywheels are a fantastic option for someone looking to improve the acceleration and overall performance from their car. Truly an awesome modification.

  • Q: 2007 wrx tr stage 2 clutch replacement  Matt H. 8 years ago

    Answer

I have a 07 wrx tr at stage 2 with 240 whp and 290 wt. I am going need to replace the clutch. What is the best match for this? and will replacing the flywheel or any other parts get more performance with my setup?

    • A: Clutches are designed for different application. However a full race clutch is not always the best choice for street driving. When considering a clutch for a street car, we recomend a clutch that is full faced and not a puck style. This will allow for smoother enguagement, and longer life when being driven on the street. However you do want to get one with a higher TQ capacity. The benefits to this flywheel, is that its lighter then the stock unit. Which reduces rotational mass, and allows more energy to be spent accelerating the car forward. Where the stock flywheel is a bit heavier, consuming energy which could be used to propel the vehicle. Throttle response will also be reduced, along with faster engine rev up and rev down.
