Well, its a heat shield. Nothing crazy, looks nice in engine bay, easy install & perfect fitment. If you are looking for a little engine dress and have an upgraded DP I highly recommend it.
Does not rattle, yay!

Tried the Cobb heat shield, couldn't get it to stop rattling.. So back to the stock SPT upgrade. Fits perfect, does not rattle. As far as actual heat shielding, no heat shield will prevent heat soak, combine with a turbo blanket for much better results. Debating removing the riveted emblems and having it ceramic coated in black.. Maybe add a second layer of SS on the top with a 2cm spacer (ceramic coated) and then re-rivet the SPT emblems back on. May sound like a bit overkill, but for such an important heat shielding component I expected a company to come out with the perfect, balls out heat shield. Bottom line: best one for the price, anything that actually works will have to be made custom, buts that what modifying cars is all about! :)

Great product! It is a pain to install, primarily lining up the bolts that hold the heat shield in place. See the photo I posted for additional installation comments and tips.

2012 STi. The heat shield fits over my Invidia downpipe and looks good. It has three holes to mount it, but only two are used. I am a little worried of it rattling loose, but so far no problems.

This is a great head shield and worked amazing with my invidia down pipe, but on the 2011 wrx, this heat shield only mounts to 2 of the bolt locations, not a bad thing until it rattled off one of the flanges. Although it makes it easier to install, Subaru should look into making that bottom bolt hole closed off
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Q: Stock mounting hardware CZDeaver 3 years agoAnswer
Does this re-use any of the stock mounting hardware for the stock heat shield?
A: This shield reuses both stock heatshield brackets and new hardware is included.

A: Bought mine used off Craig's list, got a 1/2 spacer washer and longer 10mm bolt to make it fit. Has three holes, bolts to three locations when stacked on top of the stock turbo heat shield (which its nearly impossible to insert all three of them) or two holes when rolling with just the SPT heat shield alone (no stock heat shielding).

Q: Fitment Goldfinger978 4 years agoAnswer
I have a 2013 WRX w/ a invidia catless downpipe. Will this require to reuse the bottom portion of the stock heat shield? Just looking at it, i'm having difficulty trying to figure out where it bolts to?
A: No, this will use 2 of the OEM mounting points for the OEM heat shield and since the opening on the back side needs to be bigger for the bigger downpipe, this will only cover the top portion of the downpipe.

Q: Do i need it? Wrxzeek 4 years agoAnswer
Do I need this if I'm replacing my down pipe to a invidia divorced waste gate? or can I just use my stock heat shield that's already there?
A: It is recommended that you run a heatshield of some sort. If you do not want to buy one, you can trim your stock heatshield to fit.

Q: turbo blanket mpphelps2858313 5 years agoAnswer
will this product make any difference in heat management if i already have a perrin heat blanket or is it a waste of money?
A: This heatshield will help to contain the heat from the turbo, but it will not be as beneficial if you already have a turbo blanket installed.
