Description

The COBB Tuning Stainless Steel Turbo Heatshield has been designed to be a direct replacement of the factory turbo heat shield. Although the factory unit gets the job done, it just looks bland. The COBB Tuning unit complements the engine bay with the stainless steel design that provides protection and a cleaner look.

The job of the heatshield is to deflect heat generated from the turbocharger, and to help prevent heat soak on the intercooler, and to protect surrounding components in the engine bay for the heat of the turbocharger.

Installation is simple. Just use the same hardware used to hold your factory heat shield in place, and simply bolt in the new COBB unit.

Not bad, a bit hard to install
suby4me 1 year ago
I bought this to go along with my cobb downpipe that I just recently installed. The new heatshield fits pretty well and comes with a sheet to protect it, but the adhesive is pretty on there good and would probably be hell to rip off after installing. So, first things first, be aware that you are going to scratch it like mad. It took some finesse to slide into the narrow region, especially if you don't bother removing the intercooler. I think the best bet is the remove it just so you can navigate the shield much more easier. The other problem is trying to get the third bolt that is on the bottom left. It is literally impossible, especially with big hands like mine. I think the only option is if you had a friend with small hands that could reach passed all the hoses in the way and bolt that last screw. As of now, I just have the two bolts holding it down. No rattles so far, but I sorta worry it might nick the oil line but looks like there is some decent clearance. I kinda wished it came with new bolts as the ones I have were rusted. Unfortunately my dealer didn't have any of those bolts to order for purchase. So I ended up using the original bolts that I cleaned a bit. I sorta wished i paid 10 bucks more for the grimspeed shield that did come with 3 bolts. But I wanted to go with the whole cobb theme and saving 10 bucks seemed great at the time. Overall, once it's on it looks great. Not too bad and a nice method of preventing heat leaking out to the intercooler.

Its Not Great
nhutson424739956 2 years ago
I have had this heat shield for just over a year and it just broke. The material is not great and doesn't stand up to heat very which is what caused mine to brake around the bottom left bolt. Cobb is a great company and a company I usually like but this is not their best product nor would I suggest it to anyone. I just ordered the grimspeed heat shield so hopefully this one will hold up better.

rattle guranteed
ejaeyoon30232 3 years ago
I thought this was an excellent product when i first installed it. i have had to fix the rattle a few times, ended up having to dremel about 1 cm of a corner to eventually fix the rattle for good. yes thats bad but the worst part about it was that the rattle was coming from hitting the hard line for coolant. it wore a hole throught the hard line to the point of being worried the line might bust so i am ordering a new part. not really worth the trouble. i would recommend just using tin snips to cut the stock shield and reuse that. that being said, it is functional. not terribly difficult to install considering there isn't a lot of room to work in. the bottom bolt on the passenger side was a little difficult to reach but otherwise no major issues installing it

Looking to purchase this for my 15 sti, but after reading some of the reviews I pretty skeptical now if I should make a purchase. Any input from 15 or 16 sti owners would be highly appreciated....

    • A: This shield should fit your car without any issues. We have confirmation from Cobb that it is a direct fit.
