Features & Product Details

Custom Performance Engineering is very proud to release their redesigned EPDM (ethylenepropylenediene monomer) rubber engine mount for the MazdaSpeed3! CNC machined from a single piece of billet 6061-series aluminum; this mount is not only totally indestructible, but it also transmits far less NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) into the cabin than comparable mounts.

Their mount is unique compared to their competitors mounts both in form and in function. They have incorporated a unique method of holding the mount in the vehicle. Instead of placing all of the force on the center bushing pin, the load is distributed throughout the bushing with the CNC lathed aluminum spacers. This load distribution increases the effective stiffness of the bushing under engine loads allowing a lower durometer bushing to provide more stiffness.

cp-e™ goes a step further by using EPDM, a sort of rubber, bushing. Urethane begins to fail at temperatures as low as 200°F and generally the bushings need a higher durometer rating to hold together. The Speed3 rear motor mount is a perfect example of when not to use urethane. The location of the mount allows a large amount of heat to be transferred to the bushing. EPDM holds up to this heat, and doesn’t begin to break down and fail. EPDM has a higher density than urethane, so the bushing can have a lower durometer rating while keeping high reliability and support. Why is that good? Higher durometer ratings transfer vibrations through the vehicle and into the cabin, raising the NVH (noise, vibration, & harshness) value.

So what’s so special with the redesigned motor mount? They have taken the time to look over this design to improve it in a number of ways. First off, they now have a mount that fits two different vehicles. More importantly, they have reduced the material in the mount, making it slimmer and sleeker. The mount is now slimmer in each dimension and is able to retain the same strength and durability. Lastly, the supplied square nut is conveniently placed within the mount during installation in order to provide an easier install without sacrificing support and strength.

Not overly vibratey 11 months ago

This rear motor mount was an easy 10 minute install with a lift. The ride is much more stiff over a broken stock mount, but it is not as my coworker's rocky/shakey solid mount This is perfect if you want stiffness without shaking your fillings loose

Works on Mazda5, also! 4 years ago

My wife's 2008 Mazda 5's original mount broke, so I replaced it with a Roca stock replacement mount. It didn't even last a year before braking again. This is in a stock mini-minivan driven as a commuter car. After some research, I chose this mount hoping it would provide the extra support and not increase the vibrations in the passenger compartment. After installing it, I am very pleased! It doesn't shake the dash like the stiffer mounts can. If you release the clutch too fast, you get wheelspin and not engine hop - exactly what it's supposed to do. (I don't typically do burnouts in my wifes car, but this was for SCIENCE) :) I'd recommend this part - it should come with the car.

This Part Should Be Considered Stock  5 years ago

I got this mount installed and the benefits show right away. Gear shifting is greatly improved and clutch engagement is less harsh. It won't add any horsepower but the car feels more planted to the ground. Trust me when I say, get this part right away if you haven't.

CP-E Stage 1 (60A) 2013 Mazdaspeed3 5 years ago

This is possibly the best modification you can make to this car. Drivability is greatly increased and you feel way more connected to the car and what it’s doing. Wheel hop is pretty much eliminated (you now will have tire spin!), Shifts are smoother, you can’t go wrong! There is SOME vibration when the ac is engaged, hardly violent though and very doable. You can’t even tell it’s in there when the ac is off! After a few hundred miles and the mount is broken in, these vibrations will subside. Do your motor a favor, and buy this!
