Must have upgrade 2 years ago

For the weight savings alone, you need this carbon driveshaft on your STi! Significantly lighter than stock, and does away with the clunky joint and support bearing in the center of the two-piece steel stocker. Installation is quick and easy if you can lift the car high enough for clearance. Performance is improved a bit, but the gains are not huge of course. Acceleration feels better in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears, and most of the 1st gear bucking in parking lots is gone. There is a slight hummm from under the car around 110mph, but not quite a vibration.

Probably not the best performance/dollar ratio but damn does it smooth out the engagement in first gear. Takes away any low rpm jerking and the car seems to take off easier. Stock two piece is complete garbage compared to this CF one piece shaft. Only gripe about it is that doesn't have the protective cylinder that goes over the transmission and keeps away water/dirt etc.. Now it leaves the rear seal exposed to the elements and the metal couple millimeters from the seal is rusting. hopefully it doesn't go all the way to the seal. Would hate to see it get chewed up and require replacement..

09 sti swap 2 years ago

Got this when I put a 12 sti trans and r180 in my 09 hatch. It's unbelievably light. I love it. Pulling out (haha) is effortless. No jazzing around like with a 2 piece. My only complaint so far is that the vibration is crazy! I marked the flange on the rear diff and in the driveshaft and rotated it 180 degrees. It's much better buttttttttttt still need to try the other 2 possible combinations. Highly recommend getting one. Just need to find the sweet spot for bolting it up to your rear.

For those who appreciates refinement. 3 years ago
    5out of 5stars

This is a fantastic item, and I reckon it should be a standard item on WRX STI. It adds refinement to the driving experience because the slow speed jerk is reduced by a lot (it is still there, but much reduced) and it made me feel more relax driving the car at low speed because of the improved smoothness and responsiveness. When driving it fast, the most noticeable benefit is the improved throttle response after shifting up a gear. While it is normal to have a delay (turbo lag) between applying the throttle and when the car actually starts to picks up its pace again, its made worse due to STI being an all time AWD. With this driveshaft, the throttle pick up after a shift in gear is much better. The turbo lag is still there, but there is less burden for the engine from the drivetrain department. Oh, not to mention of how easy it is to install this item. I did not have to remove my Corsa Performance catback to install the driveshaft. Awesome.

PST shaft 7mos later 3 years ago
    5out of 5stars

7-8k miles on it no issues. Once used to it you have to remind yourself how bad it was before you realize subaru 'shafted' us all w 2 piece steel(evo guys have it worse) along w no camber adjustment out back and weak pistons lol. 350z guys all get a factory CF shaft so dont think they are weak. Researched PST more after install and they do a more precise job balancing/setting yolks than DSS and also use stronger solid, non-greasable maintenance free U joints like OEM(DSS uses weaker greasable) and PST uses >45 deg winding angle on its larger diameter CF shaft than DSS weaker 45deg winding on smaller diameter shaft. DSS is cuter in pics though especially the logo n stuff lol. If you car is pushing 6-900hp you need safety margin w strength and PST seems tougher for the extra 1lb on each end. NO clearance issues w heatsheilds or need to drill bolts to bigger 10mm (DSS uses the bigger bolt excuse to rate it for higher hp pointless on a sub 600hp car 95% of us have) on a lower power daily I think DSS is a gokd choice also if you want to pencil in 'grease ujoints' on your maintenance schedule and get 2 mor lbs off the rotational. But ask yourself is it worth it and are you running lightest wheels and rotors also? If not you may want to consider PST's common sense strengths.

hi. I have a 2008 Subaru Legacy GT Spec B. the legacy SpecBs have the 6-speed STI trans and rear end. will this driveshaft fit? I think as long as the lengths are the same, it would. I'm hope you can answer this for me. thank you so much

I'm from Taiwan Will there be a problem of high-speed jitter after installation?

Does this driveshaft use the stock 8mm bolts? Or does it require me to bore the holes to fit a 10mm bolt like the DSS driveshaft does?
