Features & Product Details

You are looking at a top-of-the-line fully USA built Grimmspeed Downpipe. All materials, engineering, R&D, fabrication, etc are straight out of the USA. The tubing is CNC Mandrel Bent 304 Stainless Steel using their custom made bend dies which give you the best fit and performance possible. Please take a second to check out these 304 Stainless Steel flanges which are a serious work of art. All 3 sides of the flanges are CNC Machined to perfection. The outlet of the downpipe has a standard 3” 2-Bolt flange that will mate up with most aftermarket cat-backs on the market. They have also included a wideband O2 bung for you if needed. Having a secondary o2 Bung give you a provision if you want to use a wideband O2 gauge.

During their design, they utilize their in-house 7-axis FARO™ Arm to obtain extremely accurate fitments. What this means is, they scan all of the mounting points on the car, bring those into their CAD software, and then begin designing the pipe around their scanned OEM data in their Solidworks CAD software. Most downpipes(or exhaust pipes for that matter) on the market are designed using fixtures. Essentially their competitors will create a welding fixture by handoff of an OEM part. This leads to a ton of chances for things to be off. They don't take those chances. They have spent the capital on R&D equipment where others have not.

Because this product replaces/removes an OEM emissions control device we must state that this product is for offroad use only.

New hardware and gaskets will be included to make this downpipe ready for the installation. Also, note that this particular downpipe will come with the black ceramic coated finish to provide extra protection against rust and corrosion, and to lower underhood temperatures.

Please Note: You will need to slightly adjust the divider tab to fit a VF40 turbo. It’s a very simple process but please contact our customer service representatives if you have any questions.

Looks and sounds great 4 years ago

looks and sounds great. Fits with no issues, just take the o2 sensor wires out of the harness on the trans and run it down the other side. Zip tie the wire up and enjoy. You will have to cut the heat shield that covers the turbo if you want to reinstall.

Only one small issue 4 years ago
eastlandwrx
Now that I got this on all seems to be running well without any boost creep noted. But, the one issue I had with the install involves the O2 sensor. The stock DP and, from what I can tell from pictures, most other aftermarket DPs have the O2 sensor bung located on the top of the pipe. This pipe has it rotated 90 degrees to the passenger side. First, this resulted in the stock sensor cable not reaching the plug, so I had to get a new sensor with a longer cable. Secondly, the O2 sensor is now exposed, rather than being above the pipe. This might not be a big issue if you are only going to be on the road, but any off-road use may put the sensor more at risk of being hit by debris. I only just got it installed today, but so far so good. The turbo spools up much quicker and the exhaust sound is much more aggressive. It also mated up to my Invidia N2 CB perfectly, much better than the stock DP. I am running the Cobb Stage 2+ SF 93 octane OTS map. Would've been 5 stars except for the O2 sensor issue.

Awesome product 4 years ago

I had the hard decision of choosing between this downpipe and the invidia downpipe. I know now I made the right decision this might seem like the costly choose but if you consider the fact that this downpipe is designed properly and ceramic coated. The sound of this thing is amazing even with the cat you can easily hear the sound of the turbo spoiling which will put a smile on any car enthusiasts face.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • Q: Boost creep?  ahcastro4 years ago

Does this having the separate dump tube help it act like an ewg? or is it better to go ewg and avoid and creep?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Catted downpipes are typically not subject to boost creep issues. It is best to go with an EWG setup to combat boosting issues.

  • Q: Gasket  eastlandwrx4 years ago

Does this DP come with the GrimmSpeed Turbo to Downpipe Gasket as shown in the picture, or will I need to purchase it separately? And, does the 300 cell cat make a large performance improvement, or is it negligible compared to the 200?
  • Q: N1 race  David WRX4 years ago

will this work with the N1 Race CBE?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This downpipe will fit with the N1 Race catback and any other catback that is compatible with the stock downpipe.

  • Q: curious   AWDsome9784 years ago

will this DP line up with a stock or tapered catback exhaust hint cobb CBE?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This will need to use Grimmspeed's 3 downpipe to stock catback adapter with either the COBB catback or the OEM catback.

A:  Which one is it? so it does need an adapter for the OEM catback? even though above it says it is compatible with all CBE compatible with the stock DP. Because the OEM CBE is compatible with the stock DP without that adapter...
