When I made this purchase, I totally went into it expecting to have a serious hassle with taking off the stock J-Pipe..I had read a lot of articles and seen many videos that had literal horror stories of the nuts stripping, bolts breaking off and having to get it extracted..So I made preparations for this, and made sure I had all the necessary tools on hand for any of the above.. But I had no issues at all. From getting my car up on the ramps to torquing down the last bolt, the entire install took me just under 90 minutes. Even with just over 13000 miles on the car, I had zero frozen or rusted up nuts. So for myself the Install was super easy...I did spray the nuts first with PB Blaster first and started by unhooking everything else first...15 minutes later I made the plunge to start on the 4 nuts on the J-Pipe...Its to bad too many others have had such a hard time with removing their stock J-Pipe ...I already had the Cobb SF Intake installed, So this just made it complete..even the 2nd boost pill removal took seconds. Tuned it to the Cobb Stage 2+ normal wastegate Map and over this first few days, its been so fun. Night and day difference. No Knock issues...DAM stays perfect at 1.0. I have yet to go WOT, but honestly, I rarely did before now and I'm not sure I'll need to for the most part. It just plane moves. Great solid product. Great Mod.

Awesome quality, fitment and tone 2 years ago

Just installed the Cobb resonated J pipe and couldn't be more happy. The welds and quality of the pipe are beautiful. I paired the pipe with my factory exhaust for now. It's a little louder then the factory J pipe but sounds a lot meaner. I ran the Cobb stage2 HWG OTS tune. Huge power difference over stage 1. My car pulls much harder and does it to 7K RPM'S The install really was not that difficult as long as you have the right tools. USE A 6 -POINT SOCKET and a breaker bar to remove the nuts off the turbo studs. That's the best tip I can give. I also grabbed the Grimmspeed replacement studs and gasket. These ones are way nicer then the OEM studs and nuts. Even if you don't strip your studs and nuts I would still replace. The quality really is that much better.

Sound is awesome, and install was a breeze compared to others. Harder to get the old stuff out than this in. Highly recommend the grimmspeed thicker turbo to manifold gasket, much nicer than the stock gasket. Everyone says you need the grimmspeed donut to flange 3” adapter, but you don’t. This comes with a donut adapter to mate it up to stock exhaust otherwise it’s just a regular 3” flat flange. Still recommend the grimmspeed gaskets. Overall, very happy with the purchase just wish I hadn’t wasted the money on the adapter I didn’t need

You get what you pay for (mostly) 5 years ago

I chose to pay extra for COBB's catted and resonated J-pipe because I'm trying to keep my 2015 WRX as quiet as possible, while achieving as much realistic power as I can. My car has the optional STI catback and after adding this J-Pipe, the exhaust tone did not increase by much at all, which made me happy. It's a slightly throatier tone with no highway droning. If you want the "stage 2" power but don't want the added noise, this is a great choice. Install was very easy. If you've ever installed a downpipe on an EJ motor, you'll find this to be a breeze due to the new turbo location being right underneath and easily accessible. I love that it came with the 3" to 2.5" adapter for the stock exhaust too. One less purchase to be made for those of us who don't want to change out the catback. My only gripe with the COBB J-Pipe is the lack of a bolt to reinstall the OEM ground strap. Subaru found it necessary to install a ground strap directly to a bolt on the OEM J-Pipe. The COBB J-pipe doesn't have a bolt welded on to reuse the ground strap on the exhaust. Others mentioned to just move the ground strap to a bolt on the motor, which I did. However, the motor already has a ground strap on the other side and Subaru obviously deemed it important to install a ground strap directly to the exhaust. Because of this, I really wish COBB would have taken this small extra step and included a spot to re-mount the OEM ground strap to their J-Pipe. For $775, you'd think this would be included. Overall I am happy. But I hope COBB ads that ground strap bolt in a new revision.

Flange on turbo side is too thick, does not come with hardware. Go with Grimmspeed, I wish I did :(
