Features & Product Details
The COBB Tuning Catted Resonated J-Pipe has been designed to improve the performance for those of you looking to add more horsepower. Because of the latest engine design and turbo placement, these are termed, “J” pipe as opposed to the traditional “downpipe term.
These have been crafted from CNC mandrel bent 304 stainless steel, and featured in the design is a high quality metal spun catalytic converter. Also provided is an adapter for use with the factory catback. Because the factory J pipe is restrictive, expect to see better response in turbo spool, throttle response, and torque.
Other features include:
• 200 Cell metal substrate high flow cat
• 3” 304 stainless steel construction with resonator
• CNC mandrel bent tubing
• At-back connection that includes 3” flat flange or donut adapter
• Ready to run with COBB OTS maps

Just installed the Cobb resonated J pipe and couldn't be more happy. The welds and quality of the pipe are beautiful. I paired the pipe with my factory exhaust for now. It's a little louder then the factory J pipe but sounds a lot meaner. I ran the Cobb stage2 HWG OTS tune. Huge power difference over stage 1. My car pulls much harder and does it to 7K RPM'S The install really was not that difficult as long as you have the right tools. USE A 6 -POINT SOCKET and a breaker bar to remove the nuts off the turbo studs. That's the best tip I can give. I also grabbed the Grimmspeed replacement studs and gasket. These ones are way nicer then the OEM studs and nuts. Even if you don't strip your studs and nuts I would still replace. The quality really is that much better.
Sound is awesome, and install was a breeze compared to others. Harder to get the old stuff out than this in. Highly recommend the grimmspeed thicker turbo to manifold gasket, much nicer than the stock gasket. Everyone says you need the grimmspeed donut to flange 3” adapter, but you don’t. This comes with a donut adapter to mate it up to stock exhaust otherwise it’s just a regular 3” flat flange. Still recommend the grimmspeed gaskets. Overall, very happy with the purchase just wish I hadn’t wasted the money on the adapter I didn’t need
I chose to pay extra for COBB's catted and resonated J-pipe because I'm trying to keep my 2015 WRX as quiet as possible, while achieving as much realistic power as I can. My car has the optional STI catback and after adding this J-Pipe, the exhaust tone did not increase by much at all, which made me happy. It's a slightly throatier tone with no highway droning. If you want the "stage 2" power but don't want the added noise, this is a great choice. Install was very easy. If you've ever installed a downpipe on an EJ motor, you'll find this to be a breeze due to the new turbo location being right underneath and easily accessible. I love that it came with the 3" to 2.5" adapter for the stock exhaust too. One less purchase to be made for those of us who don't want to change out the catback. My only gripe with the COBB J-Pipe is the lack of a bolt to reinstall the OEM ground strap. Subaru found it necessary to install a ground strap directly to a bolt on the OEM J-Pipe. The COBB J-pipe doesn't have a bolt welded on to reuse the ground strap on the exhaust. Others mentioned to just move the ground strap to a bolt on the motor, which I did. However, the motor already has a ground strap on the other side and Subaru obviously deemed it important to install a ground strap directly to the exhaust. Because of this, I really wish COBB would have taken this small extra step and included a spot to re-mount the OEM ground strap to their J-Pipe. For $775, you'd think this would be included. Overall I am happy. But I hope COBB ads that ground strap bolt in a new revision.
