Features & Product Details

The COBB Tuning Catted Bellmouth Downpipe has one purpose and that is to add more horsepower and torque.  It is a direct replacement of the highly restrictive factory downpipe, and it is the result of COBB's countless hours of research and testing to deliver the consumer a product that is satisfying in power and performance. This downpipe combines smooth mandrel bends with increased piping diameter that will reduce exhaust turbulence under boost. This will also result with improved throttle response and reduced turbo lag.

This downpipe has been fabricated from 304 Stainless Steel, and the piping diameter is 3", however it does taper down to the 2.5" stock flange for those of you who are going to retain the stock cat-back exhaust system.

There will be two O2 provisions for those who need to install their O2 sensor or an optional wideband gauge.

Because this product replaces/removes an OEM emissions control device we must state that this product is for offroad use only.

04 FXT 5MT 2 years ago

I installed this on my FXT a week ago. Put about 1k miles on the pipe so far. Everything went smooth on the install. Only complaint is the welded on bracket. The bracket sits so close to the trans mount that it was rattling like hell upon acceleration and making a horrific sound. I ended up pushing the pipe as far away from the mount as possible (which is only a few millimeters away) then tightening the bolt to keep it away. Also cut a piece of fuel line and put it on the trans mount to dampen the noise. This is most likely caused by a few things like my old ass 04 trans mount with old rubber and other related bushings that have 200k miles on them. Other than that, it is an amazing DP and install went smooth with fresh gaskets and spring bolts.

I bought this for installation by a very good shop on my 2007 WRX, at their recommendation. Since they did the installation I can't comment directly on the fit of the part, and the box was too big to invite opening when it was delivered. Getting the car back from the shop was a real treat; its responsiveness was quite noticeably improved, coupled with the up-pipe and the ECU remapping done with the Access Port. All in all, just what I had hoped for.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • Q: COBB down pipe installation   Mtb377 7 months ago

I have a cutback 3 inch Magnaflow exhaust on my 05 sti and I was wondering what type of gasket or adapter I need to install a COBB down pipe?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  You'll want to do an OEM style downpipe to 3 inch catback adapter like this for the best fitment: https://www.rallysportdirect.com/part/exhaust-gaskets-and-hardware/grm-077046-grimmspeed-oem-downpipe-to-3in-cat-back-adapter

  • Q: Downpipe  Ripcity7 months ago

I have a 2007 wrx with a Perrin CBE will the Cobb downpipe work with my Perrin cbe
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This should bolt up to the Perrin Catback just fine and you would just need a new donut gasket.

  • Q: Questions with this on an 07 WRX  Adam B.8 months ago

I'm currently running a stock downpipe on my 07 WRX to an Invidia N1 3", with a proper OEM downpipe to 3" catback adapter so there's no leaks. I plan on buying this downpipe from you guys very soon, what will I need in addition to make this fit with my setup (gaskets/adapters/etc.)? It seems like from one of the previous questions answered, I'll need to retain use of the OEM downpipe to 3" catback adapter with this COBB pipe. Is this really the case? (Seems odd to me, as I'd assume a 3" downpipe wouldn't need an adapter to mount to a 3" exhaust)
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  You would want to use the same adapter as the OEM downpipe, since the Cobb Downpipe retains the OEM style flange instead of the traditional 2 bolt 3" flange that most aftermarket downpipes use.

  • Q: N1 Invidia figment   Sensiman849 months ago

Will this match up with my invidia n1 catback exhaust?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Yes, this will fit on an N1. We do recommend you install with the OEM downpipe to 3in cat back adapter to avoid any exhaust leaks.

  • Q: tomei expreme ti mating up?  RELprojects1 year ago

I recently bought the tomei ti extreme catback exhaust, wondering if this cobb will match up because on the picture shows the flange isn't flat and has that donut gasket pipe at the very end. As for the tomei flange is flat. would it match up or will that cobb pipe flange get in the way?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  For the best fit between a 3 inch flat flange like the Tomei and a donut flange like the Cobb an adapter is recommended. An adapted rlike the Grimmspeed GRM 077046 works well for this connection.
