  • Q: Duel thrust?  GreenGoldGC84 years ago

Hey, I understand that this crank is sold as a rear thrust type crank, however most ej25 cranks I have encountered have been duel thrust. Would you be able to give a the centre main width measurement please. I would be using the crank in a closed deck ej20 block which has centre thrust. Thanks
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This crank is only intended to be used in blocks with position 5 thrust bearings, and it is not machined to accept position 3 thrust bearings. We unfortunately do not have the specs for the width of the position 3 journal.

  • Q: Fitment  grahamjpitre363294 years ago

this would be the correct crankshaft for a EJ20 stroker kit? (79mm stroke if i remember right)
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This would work for a stroker kit, you would just need to measure the clearances for your rods/pistons to be safe.

  • Q: rod journal location  rothgile5 years ago

Is the rod journal in location 5 next to flywheel end of the crank? I know you haven't verified fitment in ej251 engine but it looks like they are the same I'm also interested in if standard ACL bearingd will fit this crank?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This crank will utilize position 5 bearings. The standard sized ACL bearings are perfect with this specific crank! Thank you.

  • Q: EJ205 2.1L Stroker  KornShaDoW0975 years ago

Will this work with the 2.1L 79mm stroker setup? Subaru told me this part number was the 05+ part number and '04 was another part number...
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  We would not be able to confirm fitment with a 2.1 stroker. This unit is confirmed to fit the 04-2014 STI but we cannot confirm the 2.0 engines.

ould ej257 rods like manley or crower work with this crank in an ej22? I plan on buying these parts through you if possible and would just like some info. I want a little more torque from the v2sq supercharged ej22. From what I hear it was the strongest block they ever made
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Unfortunate we do not have any info from experience on what it takes to use 257 cranks/rods in a 22 and what the results would be.

    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  If you want to use this crank in an EJ22 you'll need to machine the block to accept the Thrust bearing in #5 position (opposed to #3). You can then use EJ25 phase 2 rods and have custom pistons made. or EJ25 Phase 1 rods and get Weisco EJ22 stroker pistons. This setup will stroke the 2.2 to a 2.36'ish bottom end. You will also need to figure out the compression ratio you want to run which will depend on the heads you use, the pistons & the head gasket. EJ20 heads should be polished to match the 2.2 cylinder diameter. I am currently building an EJ22T, it's not a walk in the park and you better get all the facts/info before attempting it. I suggest researching a lot deeper into this than just asking RSD haha.

A:  I have this exact crank in my EJ22T. 97STB is correct that the block will need to be machined in order to retro-fit this crank. This is my thread that shows what all that was done, and where I got the machine work done at; http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=52349. Just the thrust relocation cost me 245 bucks so be prepared.

A:  The rods would have to be custom being able to accept a piston designed for the ej22 but able to be used with this crankshaft as well. I could not confirm fitment of this part in an ej22, it is going to be a lot of custom work and it is best to check with a machine shop if you have fitment questions.
