Tein Street Basis Z Coilover Kit - Subaru WRX 2002-2007 / STI 2004
Manufacturer Part # GSS60-8USS2
If you're in the market for an affordable set of coilovers that won't break the bank, then the Tein Street Basis Z coilovers would make for a great option. These are ride height adjustable coilovers that will improve handling, performance, and the stance of your vehicle. These coilovers feature a sealed structure, in which Tein designed the body to have a narrow shell pipe to allow oil and gas to be injected, Then the body is then completely sealed.
Ride height can be adjusted by moving the lower spring seat either up, or down, making level adjustment simple and efficient. Additionally, the Street Basis Z coilovers utilize a twin-tube system which attains a longer stroke with a smaller repulsive force which provides better ride comfort. This design makes the coilover suitable for all kinds of road conditions which will make for smoother rides at lower speeds, while having more stability on higher speed levels.
With the Street Basis Z coilovers, users will re-use their OE upper mounts to complete installation, and these coilovers will come supplied with an optimal dust boot, no-sag springs, and the coilovers will come powder-coated in Tein's flagship green powder-coat finish for protection against corrosion.

And one more thing.... the instructions say not to use a impact wrench in order to run down / tighten the top mounting nut (19mm). Using a impact wrench is not my style as it potentially can spin the shaft and perhaps damage the internals (?). But , in this case you must use a impact wrench. Because these are priced economically, I believe Tein did not want to add cost by further machining the end of the strut shaft: some c/o's have a hex on the OD of the shaft end and some have a hex in the center of the shaft. As you may be aware, that bit of machining is there so you can Hold the shaft with one tool and tighten the nut with the other hand / tool ; hence the shaft can not spin while tightening and a impact is not needed - just hand tools/wrenches (maybe a special socket etc. ). So....... you will need a very mild type of impact wrench / driver to run down the top nut once you have every thing assembled like the exploded diagram displays in the instructions. But what you will also need is a vice grip with the jaws covered in a few layers of tape: With the assembled C/O ready to be tightened, sneak in between the coil spaces of the spring (way up to the top - as high as you can get) and pull down the rubber boot and clamp the shaft tight. You must provide some resistance to the shaft in order for the impact wrench to start "hammering". Once there is some resistance, the impact will run the nylock supplied nut down and tighten it almost instantly! (so be ready to stop once the nut runs down the threads on the shaft - it happens very quickly. You don't need the power or an impact, you need the "hammering" effect to run the nut down quickly as the taped vice grip only will provide some resistance and not a positive hold. So, heads up on this detail.
