Installtion is pretty straight forward. It was pretty scary removing the old shifter. Mine involved unbolting it from the linkage and pull extremely hard positioning the shifter at 4th gear. Overall the shifter is a good quality shifter. One thing I would recommend is keying the shifter components so the rods doesn't spin around if not tightened all the way.

I've put COBB Stage II on my Forester so the next logical step was a short throw shifter. My son has one on his WRX race car and after I drove it in an autocross event I figured it was time for a shifter. I had already done the shifter bushings and the link that wears out. Like all of the other COBB products this comes in a nice box (Yes, I know what difference does the box make) which is typical of COBB's professionalism. It is well made and I followed the instructions and had no problems. My guess would be it took about 3 off of the 1st to 2nd shift. WOW, WHAT A DIFFERENCE!
