  • Q: will this clutch hold up  ben09sti500whp 5 years ago

    Answer

my sti has 425whp 26lb of boost and i have a act racing clutch in it and its starting to go after 10000 miles is it good to stick with this clutch? or should i upgrade to something stronger to handle the boost

    • A: If you are constantly racing the car such as power shifting and hard launching, you might want to consider getting a multi disc clutch that can hold up to more abuse. 10,000 is not much on a clutch so if you are wearing it out that fast you might want to consider other options or reduce the amount of stress that the clutch is put through.

    Answer

Do I need a whole clutch kit when I replace my clutch? Or will one of these just mate up to the stock components? If not then why?

    • A: You can use this disc as a stock replacement, however it is highly recommended you use a new, full kit, and either get a new flywheel, or have the old flywheel turned. Reason is that the disc, flywheel and pressure plate will form grooves with eachother, and with just a new disc and old pressure plate or flywheel, you will not get 100% contact between the surfaces.
