First off the part looks great in person once opened from the box, it matches all the other Cusco blue braces. I installed this on a 2006 STI, so to install this bad boy, you gotta take off the from bumper skin/plastic bumper to actually access where this goes. Many of said you need to do some trimming of the plastic bumper once you have this part installed for it to fit back on right, that is incorrect for a 2006/2007 STI, YOU DO NOT NEED TO TRIM ANYTHING ! The bottom/center bolt on the brace connects to the car, replaces a plastic push clip that goes along with all the others to keep the plastic bumper skin on, you will know what i'm talking about if you have taken off your front bumper skin, it is dead nuts center on the inside of the skin. Once the brace has been installed and all torqued down well, you just put back on the front bumper skin, it's that simple for the install. One thing I did since the center hole on the front bumper skin would not be used with that push clip anymore, I just made sure that hole hooked onto the threads from the center bolt from the front power brace, they stick out a bit, enough for you to hook that hole over it and it will stay very firmly in place. Put back all your other push clips and snap the bumper back on all good, and you are done ! The part is visible from the front once the bumper is back on and in place, it is not a hey look at me kind of view, but you see it a bit. Ok so far as performance, well, I have all the other Cusco braces as well, so I wanted to get this in conjunction, after driving the car around a bit, I did notice that the front end seemed a bit stiffer/solid if that makes sense. I am still on stock set up as far as springs and all that, but I do have strut tower braces and all the Cusco lower power braces and Cusco front/rear sway bars. I felt the difference more driving on the freeway, than the street due to more turns and all that. Would I recommend buying this ? Yes, if you have other braces and sway bars like I do, then it's a definite Yes, I did notice a difference, not huge, but in my opinion every little bit helps, also I don't think a FMIC would fit with this part, so if you plan on going that route in the future, I would save your money and spend it on something else just my 2 cents. And as always RSD has the parts I want/need for my 2006 STI in stock and at great prices.
The cusco brace is a great item, fits perfect with small modifications on bumper. Recommed to all gd owners

Nothing more to say. Simple bolt-on affair after removing bumper. Didn't have to do any cutting of the bumper on my '06 STi. Looks great and adds some aggressiveness to the front end!
Installed on 02 wrx. Bar works with 02 usdm & jdm bumper beam. For me it's more of a cosmetic mod because it does absolutely nothing, but you know you still want it. Install of the actual bar was a breeze with just 3 bolts, trimming takes up most of the install time.

Q: Does this work with OEM US front bumper beam? CHENG0085 years ago
Looking at description, it says that this part will not work with the factory bumper beam. However some of the reviews make it seem like it WILL work with it. Can you clarify please? My particular application is an 06 STi. Thanks in advance!

A: Some trimming may be required. If anyone has had this fit without trimming, they could be on a JDM bumper. The US bumpers have different regulations and will more than likely require modification for this brace to fit.

A: Hi Chris, Thanks for that answer. Understood that the bumper piece will need trimming (aka the plastic parts). Just wanted to make sure that my safety is not compromised by having to remove the US safety beam (metal thing bolting to frame of car)? Hope that makes more sense...
