Nice for the price!

I was too nervous to hack up my bumper to make the TurboXS GT fit, and I wanted the resonator so I went with this system.. it sounds great! It still doesn't come with the clamp pictured, it comes with a clamp that's too small to fit so be sure to order the Walker 33222. I'd also recommend ordering 2 of the Remflex or Grimmspeed gaskets, I took a chance with the supplied hardware when I should have just ordered the better hardware (which I did right after the install). Everything is sealed right now, I know sound is relative but I don't think it's obnoxious and it sits up high enough to the car. Overall I'm happy with this system, plus quick shipping and a great price from RSD!

Excellent Quality for the Price!

I swapped this exhaust for the SPT I've had on my '09 WRX hatch for about 90K miles. It was packaged very well, and arrived with no damage. Out of the box, the welds looked pretty good, and the flanges were pretty beefy. I was impressed with how it was constructed (again, this is a $500 catback). The only issue I had with the catback was the cheesy clamp for the slip joint that was included with the system in lieu of the lap joint clamp shown on the web site. The crude clamp that came in the box was useless because it was too small to allow the bolt threads to pass completely through it. I bought a Walker 33222 clamp, which RSD reimbursed me for (in addition to sending me a free Grimspeed gasket...excellent customer service, as always!!) Installation was pretty straightforward, and everything aligned properly. The hardware and gaskets were decent; I’ll probably replace the gaskets with multi-layer Grimmspeed gaskets if/when they eventually leak. The slip joint slid together nicely and all the flanges lined up. I reused the stock hangers, and they all lined up perfectly. A couple things I noticed: the X-force muffler is much lighter than the SPT - 17 lbs. vs. 38 lbs., and the entire exhaust has just a bit more ground clearance than the SPT. The sound level is a bit deeper and just a touch louder than the SPT. I really like the aggressive tone without excessive volume. I does have a slight drone around 3500 rpm (I'm picky and I like how quiet the SPT is), but no harshness or rasp at high rpm like the SPT. Overall, an excellent, moderate tone catback with unmatched quality for the price. Highly recommended (once X-Force includes the proper clamp).

Long Term Update: After almost a year, the wadding material in the muffler packed out and this became too loud for me. Too deep and boomy. So I had a muffler shop swap out the muffler on this for a larger magnaflow. Now it's much quieter. The piping on this is pretty thin, so it does resonate a bit more than more expensive catbacks.

The Adult's aftermarket Exhaust

Easy to install, Be forwarned unless your getting a down pipe also you will need the adapter to deal with the donut gasket from the stock down pipe. You can make it work without it but it takes a little bit of redneck engineering and will most likely leak in a few months. i didn't buy the adapter, but I am getting a down pipe shortly so it is what it is. Now on to the Sound, this is the grown-ups aftermarket exhaust. Do you want to hear your car but not be obnoxious? This is what your looking for, Zero drone at highway speeds, just enough sound at idle to know your not running a stock exhaust. Then that beautiful sound of the boxer flat 4 when your giving it gas. I do wish it was a hair louder when I am really getting on it, but I am thinking that will be solved with the down pipe.

Looks Nice But...

Shipping: Pro: Fast and came before the expected time Con: Only the muffler came wrapped whereas the S and Mid pipe were clanging around. It did come with some small dents due to no other packing peanuts foam etc. Mounting Took very minimal time (only 30 min) to install, after I had to find some new bolts and nuts to attach the mid pipe to the stock downpipe since they expect you to change the downpipe at the same time. Sound: Pro: I live in the Los Angeles area and wanted to get something that would make it deeper and noticeable but not attract to much attention. If you want some noise but still be legal get this exhaust however if you want something louder put an Invidia N1 catback on it or put on a catless Invidia downpipe. I'll post a video shortly.
