The COBB 3" Stainless Steel Cat-Back Exhaust System has been designed to improve the performance, the looks, and the sound in your vehicle. This exhaust system has been designed with minimal bends that reduce turbulence under pressure which relieves back pressure for increased horsepower, increased torque, and improvements in throttle response and reduced turbo lag.

This exhaust system has been fabricated from quality 304 stainless steel materials which should last the life of your vehicle and endure the elements. The piping has been TIG welded and exhaust gasses go through a combination of 3" and 2.5" piping. Exhaust hangers are welded onto the stock OEM locations so no further modifications are required on the chassis or body for fitment.

Hardware, as well as a gasket, are included to make this exhaust ready for installation. It is also compatible with the stock, or COBB Tuning downpipe.

Sounds just right!
Jono 2 years ago
Sounds just as it should! I read a lot of reviews before finally transferring this from the wish list to the cart. I had an 04 WRX with a Lou's custom rear silencer and it was never quite enough. After 5 years with the standard muffler on my 2011 WRX I went with the COBB cat back. Outstanding! When you stamp on the right peddle the boxer barble is just fantastic. I don't think you get any more power but as you go to red line and change gears you get a few little pops and back to that Subaru sound track I love. It is louder on start up and as a 40 year old with 2 kids I did not want to look or sound like a boy racer but the wife says it's not noisy but does sound powerful. The noise is reasonable, almost like standard when just cruising around and is barely notable if you have the radio on. I installed it October 2016 and my only issue is with cold ears as I drive with the windows down to hear the rumble. It is now January 2017 in New England and I don't mind the cold ears as everything is cold but the Subaru still sounds awesome! Can't wait for summer. On installation the old bolts holding the exhaust to the center pipe sheered and I needed new bolts (part 03114 from O'Reilly or Autozone - each store had one instock...Ahhhh), If these look really rusted up you might want to plan ahead before starting. I liked the exhaust so much I bought the Access port and intake. I like that too. You do get a low end power bump with that : ) Traction control has to do some work it never previously had too. Rally Sport sent it promptly and it was well packed, I get all my car stuff from these guys!

So good

I drove my 2013 for almost a year on the Cobb Stage 2 map using just the Cobb downpipe with OEM catback. That setup technically works, but I highly recommend using this catback as well. I'm seeing higher boost numbers and less frequent occurrence of feedback knock corrections. I really didn't want a loud exhaust, and this isn't. I love it. It has a lot of bass rumble when idling or at low revs. It causes parts of my dash to vibrate. For normal driving it gives good feedback without sounding crappy or obnoxious. When you open the throttle it roars, but it still isn't deafening. I mostly didn't want to annoy my neighbors or attract unwanted police attention, but I'm no longer worried about it. This exhaust setup is perfect. I managed to shear both spring bolts when removing the old catback. I suggest treating the exposed part of the threads with penetrating oil before starting so you might avoid this.

The way an exhaust should be!

I purchased this Cobb catback after buying an Invidia Q300 and removing it after 9 days to sell. I am not knocking the Q300 but the drone inside the car was so unbearable that I switched back to stock. The Q300 also hung way to low for my liking. I installed the Cobb and started my car up. This exhaust is exactly what I was looking for! Extremely minor groan on the inside of the car at low rpms (about 2k) but I would not call this a drone at all. It almost sounds stock on the inside of the car when cruising but step on it a little bit and you get that classic flat four rumble that the subie is known for. It is clear that Cobb put some engineering into the design because you get a great sound and it is projected out towards the rear of the car and not obnoxious inside at all. Learn from my mistake and buy this exhaust! Don't settle for a few $$ less unless you want your ears ringing every time you drive down to the grocery store. As far as the craftsmanship of the exhaust, the welds are top notch and I like the fact that there is no mesh expansion joints or anything that would wear down quickly over time. The alignment between the muffler and midpipe could have been slightly better but once I bolted everything together the tips were aligned great with the bumper so I couldn't complain too much! Thanks Cobb for a great product!

Top Notch Service & Product

Kudos to Rally Sport Direct for the excellent customer service and rapid order fulfillment. The exhaust system itself is high quality workmanship and a perfect fit for my '13 WRX HB. Creates a nice rumble at idle, no drone at any speed, and a forceful growl under acceleration. 5 Stars on all aspects of the service and the product.

  • Q: Adapter   cfoulk12 2 years ago

If I already purchased GRM 077044 this adapter with the oem donut gasket will that work ?

    • A: If you are needing an adapter to link to a 3 inch down pipe, then yes it sounds like you have everything you need.

  • Q: Condensation Drip  Colorado_Nittany 2 years ago

Have this exhaust and love it. Today, I had the vehicle sitting in the driveway idling for about 15 minutes while I swept out the garage. Noticed there was a condensation drip from the midpipe/ muffler joint. Seemed as though condensation inside the pipe was dripping out as opposed to condensation from the exterior of the pipe. Does the fact that water can drip out indicate a poor seal at this joint, or is this acceptable? I haven't noticed any other telltale signs of an exhaust leak (excess or odd noises), just this drip.

    • A: This is normal as many exhausts can build up condensation on the inside.

  • Q: Invidia dp  cfoulk12 2 years ago

I have a catted invidia downpipe will this bolt up perfectly or would I have to purchase some kind of adaptor ?

    • A: This has a 2.5in taper at the flange and will require an adapter to ensure a leak free install with any aftermarket 3in downpipe.

  • Q: Pro tune  08silverbullet 3 years ago

I have a 08 hatch with a Cobb pro tune, with a custom exhaust and it's just a bit to loud for my taste, there is no muffler, but if I bought this would I have to completely get it retuned?

    • A: A tune should not be needed if you are just changing the catback.

  • Q: tune?  j_gleason 4 years ago

Will this require a tune or is that not necessary if all you're adding (right now) is the cat back?

    • A: A tune is not required for Cat-Back Exhaust Systems.
