    QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

    • Q: Fitment  JDM08STi7 years ago

Does 6 and 4 piston Brembo Gran Turismo brake kit fit to JDM 08 STI model?
    • Q: hand brake  monster_wrx7 years ago

Will I be able to retain stock handbrake?
      • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Yes. Brembo machines the aluminum bell portion of the rotor so the hand-brake function is still retained.

    • Q: master cylinder up to the task?  jamesnysti8 years ago

Hi, I am thinking about purchasing these brakes along with the 6 piston front kit for a 2011 sti sedan. -Can the master cylinder keep up with a 20 piston system vs the stock 12 piston system? (original brembos are 4 piston front and 2 piston rear on each wheel so a total of 12. vs this upgrade is almost double, 20). -Is the volume of fluid needed to depress the pads the same distance then almost doubled? -Can I get a Brake Master Cylinder with a different valving to counter balance this seemingly obvious change in the hydraulic mechanics?
      • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The stock Master Cylinder will have no issues with this Brembo upgraded brake kit. Brembo works close with OE manufactures to ensure that the kits are designed to work with no issues using factory installed parts such as lines/master cylinders/brake boosters. The activation distance travel will typically be less then stock. This is a result of the piston sizes used along with the caliper design. There is no aftermarket Master Cylinders for these cars. With that being said there is absolutely no need to change out the master cylinder on the car to run the Brembo kit.

A:  Kirill is 100% correct. Brembo engineers the Gran Turismo systems to function with the stock master cylinder. It will not effect the ABS or traction control (if equipped). No proportioning adjustments are necessary either. Brembo calipers come with various bore dimensions so the engineers can fine tune the upgrades to work precisely for a particular chassis. More pistons does not mean more fluid is needed when spread out over a larger pad surface area. Piston diameters determine that. Remember, Brembo did the OE system and we have all the data to design more performance upgrades.
