  • Q: Fitment on 2008 STI  m3 years ago

Like one of the other reviewers mentioned, these pads seemed too wide. I had to shave the sides down before there would fit. Is there any way to tell if 2008 had a split year? Or some other reason these would not just slide right in without adjustment? Don't want to reorder the wrong thing.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The 2008 STI did not have a caliper change. They are meant to fit without modification, but the pads on Brembos can be a snug fit. If you're having fitment issues, feel free to contact our customer service team for assistance.

  • Q: Fitment  m3 years ago

I have an 08 STI, and like one of the reviewers, the pads were about ~1mm or so too wide (long-ways) all around, and required shaving to fit. Was there any variation in parts for that first year of the model? After getting the pads in with shaving, they worked fine for half a year (so I can't return them), but now it wobbles under light braking... afraid to repurchase if they won't fit again.

A:  The 2008 STI did not have brake caliper change mid-year, I would suggest maybe giving another brand a try and see if you might have better luck? Please call into customer service for further assistance with suggestions.

  • Q: Do these fit Brembo big brake kit?  StonerSTiGuy077 years ago

I have Drilled and Slotted Rotors with the Brembo calipers they are noticeably bigger than stock. Will these still work?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  These will fit OEM STI Brembos. If you have a larger Brembo kit, you will need pads specific to your exact calipers.

  • Q: pad thickness  ema286078517 years ago

How low (in mm or 1/16) can I let these pads get before replacing them? how thick are they stock? I bought them, I just want to know when to replace them.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  It is generally recommended to replace brake pads once the compound gets to 3/32. Stoptech does not publish the compound thickness, but they will be similar to stock.

How long is the pad life in a DD application.

A:  Life will be a bit less than OEM, but depending on use and the rotor this can be even worse.

do these brakes come with shims? do you still have to put the oem shims on them???

A:  These pads do come with backing plates and you will want to reuse the stock triangle shaped shims for STI models.

  • Q: Average mileage?   JJ Cooper9 years ago

Looked and didn't get definitive answer. How many miles at normal driving daily should these last? I have front and rear and don't slam the brakes all the time.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Its nearly impossible to put a mileage on a set of pads because of the vast variety of conditions the pads are subject to. I would imagine these pads would wear similarly to the OEM pads. Thank you.

Are the backing plates good enough, or should you use OEM shims in conjunction with these?
