Titanium is an amazing metal, and has properties that no other material has. One key feature to it in this application is that titanium is a great heat barrier. By placing this shim between the pad and the caliper the heat has a harder time going into the caliper and heating up the brake fluid. By keeping the fluid from getting hot, it has a lower chance of boiling and allows to brakes to operate consistently.

One piece shims, works great!

After installing new aftermarket brakes I had noise and vibrating steering wheel issues. Original shims didn't fit (they were to thick). After installing those all get back to normal! Very happy!

  • Q: 2015 sti brakes?  spacemonkey1112 2 years ago

I'm assuming these will fit on a 2015 STI?

    • A: These should fit the 2015 STI Brembos the same as previous we just have not had the ability to confirm fitment yet.

How long do these shims typically last? I know driving habits vary, but can you ballpark it?

    • A: Being that these are between the pads and the pistons, as long as they they are not damaged in anyway, they should not wear out.

    • A: almost forever... Like original shims from 2006 WRX last me for 5 years and almost 60K miles (after that I sold it). There is no mechanical wear to them except the preasure and temperature. Those are made from Titanium so should last forever :)

Is this a universal kit, will it fit Ferodo DS2500 pads(?)

    • A: These shims should work with almost any stock replacement brake pad, but we cannot confirm fitment for each brake pad.
