Great upgrade from stock brake setup 3 years ago
nbitzer
Just upgraded my stock '10 STi brakes to this Stoptech kit (front only for now, rears will be installed soon). I was really disappointed with the stock rotors that came on the STi, so I was looking for a little better braking solution without spending a ton of cash. Stoptech fit the bill perfectly. Only took ~1.5 hours for the full install of these. After the kit was installed I went out and did some braking tests which previously killed my old braking setup. Here are some tests: - 120mph to 75mph - 120mph to 40mph - 60mph - 0 mph In all of the above tests I had zero noticeable brake fade. I think this is a great kit for the aggressive driver who might see some track time every once in a while.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • Q: Slotted Roters  cmcilroy353 years ago

Is there any weight savings for these rotors vs stock rotors?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The rotors weigh approximately 22.50 LBS. Whereas the OEM Rotors should weigh about 18 LBS, so there would be no weight savings with this kit. Although, I would like to mention brake weight will not effect performance negatively.

A:  They are in fact heavier, as stated. However, adding unsprung weight to your vehicle does have a negative effect on overall performance and handling. This being said, the effect will not be measurable except on a skid pad or slalom. You will not feel it in the s eat of your pants.
