Kartboy V2 Big Brake Adapters 2 Pot Rear
Subaru Models (inc. 2002-2005 WRX / 2000-2008 Forester)
Features & Product Details
RallySport Direct also carries a great selection of braking upgrades brought to you by Kartboy to improve your overall braking performance.
These are the Karboty V2 Big Brake Adapters for the rear location. These will allow you to convert to either the Subaru Red calipers or the STI Gold Brembos for the rear to improve the overall braking performance. These adapters will include hardware to make for a straightforward installation, and when compared to a larger aftermarket option, in most cases you won't have to upgrade your wheels. And it makes for a cheaper alternative when compared to aftermarket larger big brake kits.

I would say definitely worth it to not have to press new backing plates in. It isn’t super noticeable in first bite with the 2 pot rears, but brake fade is substantially improved going from solid to vented rotors. If you drive hard, this is definitely an essential mod.
Just got done putting these on my 2002 wrx wagon with 04 sti rotors and brembos. The brackets work. However, The holes where you bolt on the caliper are off just the slightest bit. I had to enlarge mine slightly on both brackets otherwise the bolts would cross thread. Kinda annoying considering i paid over 200 for em. Id recommend making sure they fit your brakes before trying to install them on the car.
The quality of the parts was excellent. They appeared to be pretty hefty in structure. However, I did have some issue with the driver side holes not lining up. This was easily fixed with a little bit of reaming, took about 2 min. for that. A little locktite and torqued to 35 ft./lbs. Worked great! I believe they are a little overpriced for having to mess with the holes. The worst part is not having instructions and torque specs. I had to search on line for the info.
Installed in my 2004 Forester XT. The passenger side gave me a bit of trouble. The holes would not align and the bolts would not go in straight. Use hand tools and don't force it. The drivers side went smooth with no issues. Overall solid product and highly recommend for a 4/2 pot swap.
Installed these on a 2004 Forster XT and they are a absolute nightmare. The bold holes on the brackets don’t line up completely with the holes on the Forster knuckle. After a lot of bending and fitting they finally go on but will cross thread super easy. The bolts go in at an angle due to the holes not being lined up perfect. Poor quality for the $225 that you pay to get them.

I currently have non-vented rotor, single pot rear (or whatever stock 2.5i has) I would like to upgrade to a vented rotor, 2 pot setup. will this work with my hubs? and will I need STi rotors that require the 5x114 hubs?

Q: Fitment concern NuVision3 years ago
I'm swapping the front and rear brake calipers with the 4/2 pots on my 2004 Forester XT. The front rotor is perfectly in the middle of the caliper. On the rear, the rotor is closer the inner edge of the caliper, almost scraping the inside. This does not seem normal. I don't know if I installed the bracket incorrectly, but it seems to only go on one way.

A: can you send us a picture of the bracket installed? It does look like it's installed incorrectly from what I can see. Thanks

Q: Is the 04-07 sti DBA 4000 rotor the right one for the ebrake shoe to fit on a 02wrx frank.4 years ago
I saw that some say you need only 08+ sti rotors for the brackets. And some say you need a conversion DBA 4000 rotor for the r160 ebrake but haven't found the part number. Is the 04-07 Part # 4655S-10-GRP the right rotor for the r160 ebrake? Thanks in advance

A: If you have a 2002 WRX and are looking to put the STI rear caliper on, the part number needed would be DBA42657. This will keep the 170mm e-brake shoe in the back. The DBA4655 rotor will have the 190mm e-brake shoe.

Q: Re: Brembo Brake Upgrade subiedoospares20184 years ago
Hi there, will these brake adapters fit a 2004 3.0 Subaru legacy? If so, would you need to run V7 sti gold callipers? Also, would you need to upgrade the rotors? If so, would you sell these adapters and rotors (if needed) as a package deal? Cheers

A: I would imagine these would work just fine as I think they use the same caliper bracket between the models, however we would not be able to confirm fitment of course as KArtboy does not confirm fitment for that particular car. Now with that said, this kit will allow you to run either the OEM red 2-pot rear brakes or the OEM gold rear brembos, in which the Rear V7 STI gold's should work just fine. If you go with the rear brembo's. For the brake rotors, I assume you would want the DBA linked below, as I'm assuming your car will have the 170mm rear parking brake assembly.
