  • Q: Can I use this to dial back the boost levels after tune?...  jracer2403 years ago

Can I use this Manual Boost Controller paired with my installed GrimmSpeed EBS to bring down the boost levels that my tuner set? Trying to safeguard my engine some after blowing a head gasket due to higher boost levels.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  I do not believe you can turn down the boost, but you can use this in pair with the EBCS.

  • Q: Installation  PLN 334 years ago

When installing this, is the stock EBCS supposed to be removed/unplugged, or will removing it make the CEL come on?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  There are a couple different ways to install this boost controller, and we recommend consulting your tuner about which way they prefer it to be installed. Unplugging the stock EBCS will cause a check engine light to turn on.

  • Q: hybrid setup?  fly23jr568905 years ago

I hope this makes sense. Would you be able to set this up in a straight line from the mbc to the ebcs without using any of the T Fittings???? So the hose would be from turbo. To mbc and out.. Then going into ebcs then out ending at the wastegate... Would this work?
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  T fittings are required to hook this up in hybrid mode. The image below will show you how to hook this up. http://www.fnptuned.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Hybrid_setup.jpg Mike

  • Q: Do you need a tune?  Wrxstiboost487785 years ago

If your at stage 2 running the cobb access port on an sti can you still install one of these? Do i have to get a different tune?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  You can as a precautionary upgrade however, we recommend keeping boost levels where the tune sets them to prevent any damage to the turbo or motor.

  • Q: how do you determine what notch a certain amount of boost is?  Wrxstiboost487785 years ago

if you want it set for 21lbs of boost, how do you know what setting notch that is on the boost controller?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Each click should equate to 1/4 of a PSI but you will need to use your boost gauge to dial it in. Mike

A:  We recommend starting with the boost controller set to a low pressure (rotate counter-clockwise), then drive the car and gradually tighten the adjustment knob until you reach the pressure you want.

  • Q: worth it on stock turbo?  Wrxstiboost487785 years ago

i have a stage 2 sti, it has the stock turbo and intercooler. Would this manual boost controller help me in anyway? Thanks!
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The main reason something like this would be needed on a stock or stage 2 set up is if you are having over-boosting issues. If not, than this could be just simply an engine dress up piece.

A:  You will notice quicker spool up and a more consistent/solid boost curve. You will also be able to run more boost at the turn of a dial.

  • Q: Could I benefit from using this MBC?  QWKWRX5 years ago

I'm currently running the Cobb Accessport Stage 2 setup with the Cobb Catted Downpipe and Q300 Exhaust system. In the next month I'm planning on purchasing the PW TMIC, Cobb Intake (with box), Cobb XLE BPV, and GrimmSpeed EBCS then get a Pro Tune. At my altitude of 4500 feet would I benefit from using the MBC in combination with the EBCS to control boost levels? Is that overkill considering the mods I'm considering? Thanks!
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Running a hybrid boost control system on any car would be beneficial in terms of control and rock solid boost. However, with your set up I would expect the difference to be minimal at best. The EBCS alone will work very well! Mike

  • Q: overboost  ashraf.faraj422856 years ago

I have a 2010 legacy gt and I replaced the stock tmic. Since then, the turbo boost has gone up and the car is suffering from overboost and sudden fuel cut off. So, can I actually use this boost controller to lower down the boost pressure ? My car is stock and I don't want to get a tune.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This is a universal boost controller and is used to raise or lower boost no matter the car. But keep in mind that if you replaced your IC with aftermarket unit you should ultimately get a tune.

if i am only running on 20psi do i need to get it tuned?
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Yes, any time boost is increased above the stock level a calibration adjustment must be made to compensate for the added boost
