I have an 05 STI with a stage 2 tune on the accessport. Just bolt ons mainly, cobb catback, cobb downpipe and perrin intake. Would I have to retune with this? The nearest place I know of that does tunes is 3 or 4 hrs away

  • Q: BCS  dustinpazzin38 months ago

I have a 2006 subaru legacy gt 2.5L with a 2004 jdm wrx engine swap, current mods are: Cobb sf intake, Cobb V3 accessport and nameless muffler deletes. Can i plug the boost controller in and tune it through my accessport? or will i need to get a pro tune? thanks
    • 1 of 2 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Cobb does offer OTS maps for the EBCS for your vehicle, however, with the motor swap you'll definitely want to get a pro tune, since the OTS map is meant for the original EJ255 motor.

  • Q: 2006 WRX  Fernando C.3 years ago

If I buy this and the v3 accessport and run stage 1 will I have to have it pro tuned? Or will running stage 1 be enough?

A:  COBB Does list an EBCS map available for download on their website which would have to be used with this EBCS.

  • Q: Cobb solenoid  Oh_no_sti3 years ago

How is this solenoid adjustable when I installed it its pushing 26 psi and hitting peak how do I adjust t ?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Being an electronic unit all adjustments would have to be made through the ECU in tuning.

  • Q: ecbs and v1 tuner  AP3 years ago

My buddy wants to sell me his AP v1 for a screamin' deal. Will the new stage 2 ECBS map be compatible with that old school unit?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This will work with a pro-tune but we could not confirm the old V1 Accessport to work with COBB's more recent OTS maps and that may be a better question for COBB.

  • Q: 2007 wrx wagon  blumiez576203 years ago

i installed this yesterday with the cobb stage 1 + ebcs tune and now i am not even hitting target boost. Any ideas where i went wrong?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  I would double check all connections on the EBCS and the connections on the compressor housing, turbo inlet, and actuator. Often times, problems of this nature can be attributed to the vacuum lines being switched around. For further help diagnosing this issue, please contact us via phone, email, or chat.

Will this work with the stage 1 or 2 +ebcs maps cobb offers?
  • Q: Cobb Boost Solenoid  thewyldeone86496693 years ago

Quick question, I literally just ordered the Cobb Boost Solenoid a few hours ago from your site for my 06 Limited Wagon. It say it requires a tune after install. Now I have a Cobb Accessport V3, I'm tuned stage 2 now. If I install the solenoid and reflash stage 2 again, will that be a sufficient enough tune, or will I need a protune?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The Cobb OTS maps do not correctly calibrate for an electronic boost control solenoid. You will need a protune.

  • Q: tune on 03 wrx  LX3 years ago

I've been reading around and it seems that I won't need a protune because Cobb has a stage 2+ tune for an 03 wrx. I'm currently on a Cobb Stage 2 ots map for 03 wrx. My question is, is this true? Will the stage 2+ be fine running on my car for a while ?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Cobb recently released an off the shelf EBCS map for 2.0L WRX models, and you can use the Cobb AccessPort EBCS map rather than getting a custom tune.

Would i need to get a re-tune for this? currently running a custom stg 2 tune, nothing crazy though, just the basics.
  • Q: Tune?  STI dude4 years ago

I have an 06 STI. Would I beable to use my V3 access port to tune this for my car?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Cobb has a OTS Map specified as Stage 2 +ebcs that will be designed for their Electronic Boost Control Solenoid. You can download this map to your AccessPort and flash your car to the correct tune

  • Q: What would i need?  Franksterr4 years ago

I currently have an invidia catted downpipe and the sf intake. If i get the solenoid and put the stage 2 +ebcs tune on, will i be fine, or will i still need a pro tune?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Cobb's OTS map +ebcs will be designed for this, and you can simply reflash to the specific map using your Cobb AccessPort.

  • Q: Ots or custom?  Tomrogers13384094 years ago

Cobb has just released the stage 2+ecbs map but you recommend a custom tune rather than the ots map?
  • Q: With the new cobb maps will i need a tune?  daniel.elsey864974 years ago

With the new Cobb maps can i install this and use an OTS map, or with i stiil need a pro tune?
  • Q: Could you install this, then take it to the tuner?  cplavan4 years ago

Is is safe to drive this (without getting on it) to the Tuner? keeping it at low RPM'S?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  My tuner said that it was cool to drive without boost for a few days until I got to the tune. I actually ended up driving for a week or two without a tune because of some FI issues. Just stay low rpm and out of boost.

A:  This item requires a tune if fitted to the car. A custom tune can typically address over-boost issues.

  • Q: ristrictor pill  Gergo5 years ago

Does this solenoid eliminate the vacuum line with the restrictor pill? I'm sure its its covered in the install instructions but I was just curious as I just ordered this piece. Also is it safe to run this until I can get the car tuned?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  It will eliminate the restrictor pill, also it is recommended that you get tuned after installing.

  • Q: Would it be smart to get this once I got stage 2?  blakexr100021935 years ago

I have an 03 wrx and plan on getting the Accessport in a couple months. Would it be wise to get this at the same time? After hearing about boost creep, I don't really wanna deal with it lol.
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This would require a custom tune if installed on your vehicle. The number one cause of boost creep is a lower restriction downpipe that does not have a catalytic converter. If you plan to use COBB's stage 2 maps you must use a catted downpipe, otherwise you will experience boost creep.

  • Q: Just to clarify  nelson200hp564216 years ago

You HAVE to get a tune if you install a new solenoid? It will not function or increase performance at all on a ots Cobb tune? For example, if I'm running the vf39 tune off my Accessport and install this solenoid it will not function properly and negatively affect performance?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  A tune will be required to get any benefit out of this unit as COBB does not have any OTS maps that support the solenoid yet.

  • Q: tuning  albotsti6 years ago

Can this be supported through Cobb's OTS maps, or is a pro-tune required? thanks
  • Q: tuning  matt_harrison19693906 years ago

Not to sound like a noob, but will you need a pro tune after installing the BCS? I'm hoping this will fix the stutter in my 04 wrx. thanks
  • Q: Internal WasteGate interaction  KornShaDoW0976 years ago

Will using this to bypass pressure allow me to leave the stock internal spring at 7psi or whatever it is and still boost 20psi without any boost creep? or do i also need to lower the load on the wastegate after getting this to prevent this?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  No adjustments need to be done to the gate, just make sure to tune the WGDC and boost targets accordingly after install to hit your target numbers.
