Description

The Mach 2 is configured as a 100% recirculating valve (i.e. bypass, plumb back) and add on kits are also available to convert to 100% atmosphere venting. Use the recirc model for direct factory replacement when you want the performance WITHOUT the noise! Add the conversion kit when you want some noise with your performance!

Factory bypass valves have two main shortcomings – one is that they are typically designed to start opening above a certain pressure to protect the engine, and the other is they are not optimised for throttle response. Oh, and you can’t vent them to atmosphere without stalling your engine.

The Mach 2 solves all of these issues. It can effectively hold unlimited boost (unlimited in that no turbo could ever produce enough pressure to damage it), and the TMS technology ensures maximum throttle response. Oh, and you CAN vent with the atmo conversion to atmosphere without stalling your engine.

Sounds amazing

An awesome diverter valve that feels very sturdy and heavy, amazing sound under boost, I love the flutter that it makes and it's not too loud like an actual blow off but loud enough to hear in the car and fall in love with driving, install took 5 minutes; no directions needed. Gets louder and better depending on how much psi is built up in the turbo. The video is @ 7psi

Hey I have a 2004 WRX, so does it make that noise just with the valve kit or does it require other upgrades? Because I like the noise of a proper blow off

Great quality valve. I have a Cobb intake with the box so my turbo is loud and it exhales loud as well. This didn't change the sound when i shift high, but when i shift at very low RPM it changed the sound a little bit which I didn't expect this thing to do. not a bad thing, I like it. The only issue i had was when i took the old one off and I had to take the stock elbow off, the 2 screws were on there so tight and the screws were so soft I stripped it in one twist. So I had to drill the old screws out and go to the hard ware store to replace them with stainless steel screws. So I also got to upgrade some screws while i was at it. amazing!

My wife's 2011 STI is what the kiddos call stage 2+. There's much more to it, but we've basically just maximized the stock setup. The car has had a stutter I have been unable to tune out with the AP tuning software. I got it to move in the rpm range, but it was still there. Long story short we narrowed it down to the stock by-pass valve. I bought this as a mothers day gift. I liked that it wasn't intended to be a noise maker for teen tuners. Figured for the price why not try. We installed it in about 15min. And spent an hour making 2500-3500rpm runs to fine tune it. The end result is absolutely no stutter, and her car shifts like a dream! Drivability is improved and it makes the power band more usable resulting in a better performing STI. I will buy another one when I buy my WRX beater!

  • Q: How strong  caalmei40577 2 years ago

    Answer

How many psi of boost will this bov hold ?

    • A: A PSI rating is not given by GFB.

  • Q: Fitment w/larger TMIC  georgetournas89579 2 years ago

    Answer

Hey ! I have an 05 USDM STI upgraded w/Grimmspeed TMIC and a TURBO XS BOV which interferes with aluminum hood !!! and is damaging both !!! does the GFB Mach 2 have sufficient clearance to eliminate this problem.

    • A: This is substantially shorter than the Turbo XS blowoff valve and should resolve your issues.

  • Q: how is adjustment measured?  naterkane 2 years ago

    Answer

I've installed many valves from forge, where spring tension (by color) + shims are used to accurately set the opening pressure, however this unit appears to be adjusted by turning it to (i assume) preload a spring. is there any way to determine what the preload adjustment is (without building a tool to supply regulated air to the i/c side of the valve)? or are we forced to use trial and error?

    • A: The best way to adjust the spring tension is to install the valve and let the car idle, then add more tension until the valve is shut while the car is idling. You can test drive the car, and if it flutters when releasing air, then you need to reduce tension. As long as the valve is closed during idle, and does not flutter when releasing air, then it is within the correct spring tension range.

  • Q: BOV  Acer 3 years ago

    Answer

Will I need a tune after I install this BOV to my 2005 wrx?

    • A: A Blowoff valve does not require a tune.

      Nick S. 3 years ago
    • A: Not at all. This valve is fully recirculated and won't affect the tune in any way. If you opt for the atmosphere venting conversion kit, provided you get the spring pre-load set up correctly, the car will run normally without needing a tune.

  • Q: hi  omar 3 years ago

    Answer

Sorry for the silly question but Wich kind of sound does it make pashhhhh or shlololololo ?

    • A: With this being a fully recirculating valve it is going to be mostly silent, but will make a psshhh noise if audible.

      Nick S. 3 years ago
    • A: Do u have any bovs for the sti 2012 that makes the shlolololo sound ?

      omar 3 years ago
    • A: As Nick said, being fully recirculated it will sound the same as the stock valve. If you have an aftermarket intake, you will hear an exhale noise when you lift off, but you'll get that with the stock valve too. If you want a whoosh noise, go for the Respons TMS T9003 valve, as this will allow you to vent some air to atmosphere for that sound. The fluttering sound you're referring to is compressor surge, which is the noise the turbo makes when you block off the BOV, but that's not recommended and Subaru turbos don't make the same sound as a Skyline or other Garrett-based turbos that you would have heard. In short, no, there's no such thing as a BOV that makes the sholololo sound you're looking for.

    • A: I'm using the Garrett gtx3076r with ssqv bov can I do it by adding ewg or changing the bov ?

      omar 3 years ago
    • A: Since you're using a Garrett turbo, it will definitely make the flutter sound if you really want it to. If you crank the BOV spring down to the hardest setting, you should hear some fluttering at low RPM, which isn't usually a problem for the turbo. You can block off the BOV all together to hear that sound any time you lift off, but I don't advise doing that for the sake of the turbo. A little bit of flutter at low RPM is not a problem, but doing it at peak boost and high RPM is not good for the turbo.
