Lots to be desired. 1 month ago
    3out of 5stars

Installed on a 2012 WRX. The install of this leaves a lot to be desired. First off, fitment of the AOS itself is TIGHT. Its a good thing the mounting bracket is flexible. Second, you might as well order your own METRIC hoses to save some frustration. The 1/2 and 3/8 inch ID hoses supplied are very difficult to fit onto the 13mm and 10mm barb fittings. Lastly, the instructions from their website are... adequate, but could use some improvement. I have no doubt that it will function and do what its designed to do, but for the price point, im pretty disappointed. Its pretty clear that not much time was spent with the fitment, at least for a WRX.

Might as well light your money on fire 2 months ago

I have a Crawford V3 AOS for my STI and it's not doing it's job at the track. I lose about a liter or so after each track session. My ringlands are fine. This oil loss ONLY occurs at the track and I know why. Because of the way the boxer engine is designed, under high-g turns your oil is going to get pushed to the sides, into the heads, and get sucked up through the valve cover vents which are connected to the turbo inlet. I looked at how Porsches handle this problem and their boxer engines come with an AOS stock. If the Porsche AOS breaks they get massive oil consumption and smoke coming out of the exhaust. Anyways back to our boxers: take a look at the black Y pipe next to the TMIC. If you follow the plumbing you will see the two valve cover tubes on either side combine via the metal Y pipe and connect to the turbo inlet. The turbo inlet is always going to be under vacuum so any oil that makes it to the valve cover vents will get sucked up into the turbo, through the intercooler, and into the engine. We all know that is bad. Before the Crawford AOS I had an oil catch can plumbed between the valve cover breathers and the turbo inlet. This thing filled up after every track session. I thought the V3 AOS would fix this and I wouldn't have to worry about draining and emptying the catch can anymore. I was wrong. The way the V3 AOS is plumbed it does not even touch the valve cover vents. It only handles the PCV valve system in the middle of the engine. Furthermore, the Crawford AOS is designed more like 2 catch cans stacked on top of one another that don't even have a drain. The lower barb in each chamber functions as a "drain". On the V3 AOS there is no separate path for the oil to drain out of like other AOS systems on the market. This might catch oil mist in the PCV system but does NOTHING for the most of the oil that will come out of the valve cover vents. I wonder why Crawford is now a former vendor on NASIOC. 🤔🤔🤔

Just like as espected, installation depends on how patient you are because fitment issues might come up depending on already installed mods such as fuel rails... The routing of the hoses is easy follow the instructions or do it as you see fit (use common sense) in my case was a little different but luckily enough hose was provided. Quality of product is great, as usual from Crawford.

    Easy Install 1 year ago

Everything was as described. Instructions were super straight forward. Only problem I ran into were some fitment issues due to having different fuel rails and injectors but it’s nothing a little bit of grinding couldn’t fix. Would recommend

    • Q: TMIC  Ayeayer0nn3 months ago

Which aftermarket TMIC would this fit with?
    • Q: Crawford V3  08RumbleWagon3 months ago

Is the Crawford V3 AOS not universal? I'm needing to install an AOS. From my understanding, the V2 requires coolant lines to be plumbed to allow for heat transfer. Will the V3 fit an 08 Outback XT Limited?

What would be the difference installing this kit with a FMIC (Mishimoto) on a 2011 STI
      • 0 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The main difference between this kit and the FMIC kit would be the mounting bracket. The hoses are most likely different lengths as well.

A:  Most FMIC piping routes thru the area where this canister is mounted. We recommend our V2 kits for the widest fitment options available at this time.

A:  You can mount it on the old top mount bracket on passenger side giving you enough room to route you fmic piping without having clearance issues.

    • Q: AOS in Winter  BrockFoz7 months ago

Is there any worry when it comes to running this AOS in cold weather? Winter is coming up and I live in the good ol state of ID. I've read about some issues with the V2 in the winter. Thanks!
      • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  No, the V3 is designed and mounted in a way that it does not experience any cold weather condensation. The V1 was our only version that experienced this issue and it was discontinued and replaced with the V2.
