Description

The Grimmspeed Air-Oil Separator (AOS) is one of RallySport Direct's highly sought after items. Grimspeed uses a unique patent pending design which allows you to maintain your PCV valve while separating oil from the air in both the heads and crankcase. These boxer engines have inherent issues with harmful oil and vapors getting into the intake system of your vehicle which can cause issues like having an effect on the octane rating with your gas, and after long periods of use and mileage can cause buildup on your valves.

This particular air-oil separator takes the place of an oil catch can, or a tank which is convenient to eliminate the need to empty the catch can. This is a subtle installation that replaces your factory oil filler cap.

New lines, fittings, and zip ties will be included to make this catch can system ready for the installation.

Note that this particular unit will come in the anodized red finish for protection against corrosion, and to add a nice touch to the theme of your engine bay.

Frist off, GS provides everything you need to install the AOS, from the zip ties to hoses. Installation was a breeze!I love that its maintenance free. My TMIC had previously been removed before i got the AOS and i did notice oil buildup inside the piping. After running the AOS for sometime, i upgraded my TMIC and during that installation process, I was very impressed at the difference in oil build up. Awesome part from an awesome company!!

Very easy to install, i was getting a little bit of blowby and occasionaly on start up a little blue smoke after startup that would only last the first few revs, very easy to install and so far no more smoke

This product is very well built and it solves several issues in a stock WRX. My wife's 2011 STI is sporting one solving the old oil in the intercooler issue as well as a lean condition caused by the stock crank case breather setup emulsifying the oil and winter time moisture clogging the whole system. Looks cool, works great, worth every penny believe it or not. Grimmspeed is awesome if you weren't already aware.

Works great on our 2015 STI!

Works just like it should. It keeps our intake and intercooler free from oil and looks great while doing so!

  • Q: Power  JimmyAdeux 3 months ago

    Answer

Is there a maximum power this AOS can hold? Example; 20psi, 340whp

    • A: Performance isn't dictated by a certain PSI, rather how much blow-by the motor has. If the engine is healthy and not a lot of blow-by is making it past the piston rings, then the AOS will function properly. If on the other hand a lot of blow-by is making it through, then the unit won't be able to separate the air/oil mixture quickly enough and you'll find oil getting in your car's intake tract.

  • Q: PCV Valve Removal?  VItaminRich 3 months ago

    Answer

Do you keep or remove the PCV Valve with this Separator installed?

    • A: This will keep the PCV system.

  • Q: Instructions for fmic  xsaint7741060 2 years ago

    Answer

Are there directions for a fmic

    • A: If you have a FMIC, the instructions are identical except the bottom right port on the AOS will not go to the oem head breather hardline, it will go to your existing “T” for the head breathers.

  • Q: what is the difference between this and Perrin/Crawford based AOS systems?  Evren 2 years ago

    Answer

if you could shed some light that would be great on my order decision. Thanks

    • A: This system routes blow by back to the oil feed tube, it is also unbaffled and not recommended due to the location for heavy track use. The Crawford and Perrin AOS systems are coolant cooled and work very well for track applications. This is a simple AOS that doesn't break the bank and is much easier to install than the other two.

  • Q: tune  Tyson DesRoches 3 years ago

    Answer

    does this require a tune?

    • A: Tuning will not be needed for any AOS system, as it does not effect the ECU or tuning calibrations.
