This AOS (V3) was installed on 2019 WRX From start to finish install took about 3 hours; between my morning coffee and cold garage I was moving pretty slowly. Over all instructions are Ok, however do miss a few important points, and a time are just wrong. Here are a few points which some may find helpful. Removing an intercooler may take some time and a lot of wiggling, be patient and it will come out. Torque settings for all of the bolts related to the intercooler and intercooler bracket are 11.8 lb-ft. Hoses from PCV and intake manifold may need to be shielded as they will be located right on top of the clutch slave cylinder (a lot of sharp corners). Crawford instructions (pages 7- 8) are for an automatic, thus provided zip ties will not be useful for most. Discussion about quick disconnect (model year 2017 to present) on page 5 is wrong. According to shop manual connector needs to be rotated to the right to be removed. That said this connector is a pain and most-likely will brake. If yours looks like picture shown on page 5 - it is broken, though it is fine as you do not need to reuse it. And yes AC compressor will need to be removed - fore bolts 26 lb-ft. The connector on the turbo inlet, Crawford instructions have no mention of it, simply pops out, just pull on the hose and it will come out. Over all this install requires more patients than skill, and I hope my turbo and valves will last a lot longer now.

This product performed quite well and I trusted it on my stage 1. On my stage 2 I started doing some periodic checking of the return line and I found some form of gunk on all occasions. I decided to upgrade to the Radium system because it is a modular design that that can be checked for said gunk and it's level. It is a modular system that can easily taken apart and cleaned. That being said if I had an EJ motor or an FB with both direct and port injection I would totally stay with the Crawford unit. It should also be listed that this exact unit will fit all versions of the 2014+ Subaru Forester XT models. Everything is the exact same and there are no clearance issues running an aftermarket TMIC.

out of all of the AOS to choose from, I trust Crawford the most. The price, R&D, and history is superior. The installation was not to bad, however, the install guide could use some improvement. make sure you have long nose and hose pliers if you want this install to be super easy, if not basic tools are fine. All in all. you paid so much for your car, now start buying items like this AOS to help keep it running health. As for Rallysport direct, love you guys and will always choose you for my go to shop for parts and knowledge. Thanks for shipping this out to me quick.

Not As Easy As it Looks 7 months ago
    4out of 5stars

This product seems to be very well made. One thing not made clear in the diagram is that the oil drains from the separator through the bottom ports on each chamber. The installation instructions could also use some work especially for the 2017 - Present (mine is a 2018). First behind the AC COMPRESSOR (not pump) the "quick connection" is extremely difficult to get off with out breaking (I broke mine). Next there is no information concerning the white "blow by sensor" on the turbo inlet. It just pulls off FYI, you do need to reuse it, but it does make the installation of that hose easier. Other than these few installation manual short comings its a good product.

    Crawford AOS 3 years ago

After seeing the amount of oil coated through out my 2002 WRX intake and intercooler after 130,000 miles of decently hard driving, I purchased this to install on my new 2015 WRX shortly after taking delivery. The install was rather easy, if only time consuming. There were no instructions in the box but Crawford has a nice video showing each connection, though you are on your own to determine which precut piece of hose to use for each run. I am leaving this review mostly to let others know that the feature of circulating coolant through the base in order to help eliminate condensation (the milky residue they refer to in the description) did not pan out for me. The first oil change done over the winter revealed a lot of this residue had made its way down into the oil pan. My driving consists of 90% highway to and from work for about 45 minutes each way, and the rest are in town. It is pretty rare that I make a short drive (less than 5-10 minutes). I live in northern Indiana, and the winter months typically are around 15-35 degrees. I always allow the engine to come up to a reasonable temp before driving. I did not want to make a negative review towards this item, as it is definitely a quality build and includes really nice hoses and clamps, but the one major factor in choosing it over a catch can or something less costly, was specifically this feature of circulating the coolant to heat up the AOS for cold weather driving. In my opinion, this really only affects people that may be driving in similar conditions as myself, as it works great throughout spring summer and fall months. For those that are a bit further south and don't have quite as cold of a winter, I definitely would recommend this piece.

Will this work with a front mount intercooler set up?
      • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  While technically you could probably make it work, it will not be a direct fit and alot of custom work would need to be done to get it to work with a front mount.

A:  Our customers with the verticooler have been able to install this kit; a few mentioned needing a longer hose or two which we provided.
