Features & Product Details
It seems like newer vehicles like to add things that go from the engine bay and route it through the firewall and into the cabin for some odd reason. There could be many reasons, but some manufacturers feel as if these such things need to exist to help connect the driver to the vehicle. These things include sound generators that connect intake noise or blow off valve noise to the interior.
And if you own one of these vehicles and get annoyed, then don't worry because Mishimoto has released the Subaru Sound Generator Delete Kit which has been designed to eliminate engine noise in the vehicle cabin. This kit features a CNC machined aluminum plug that will plug the intake hose, and installation is simple taking around 10 minutes to install.

Since there were no instructions included with this product I have no idea why they included the black rubber piece. I tried fitting it on the firewall coupler but it's way too large. It's sitting on the shelf now. Would've been nice of them to include an actual firewall plug with this kit. I'm going to think twice before buying another Mishimoto product, they really seem to halfass everything.
So I bought this to plug the hole in the firewall after fully deleting my sound generator upon installation of an aftermarket intake. Everything indicates this is what you use to remove the stupid sound generator, but there seems to be no logical way of using it. I could not for the life of me figure out where it wanted me to install this. There are no provided manuals or guides, nothing online in terms of walk-throughs, PDFs, or otherwise. Pass. Go with another option if you are trying to actually remove the sound generator. It was seemingly well made, just no clear actual purpose and no way to figure out how to install it. Poor product management, surprising from Mishimoto.
I removed the sound generator when I installed an AOS. The delete kit included with the AOS was a cheap plastic piece that was working it's way out of the intake tube. The Mishimoto delete is a perfect fit and makes a tight seal. I no longer need to worry about any leaks in the intake tract.
