This gave my 2011 STI a nice finished look and matches the hood scoop grill perfectly. It did not take long to install and screwed in easily. Great buy. My cars front end looks so much better now.
This fits perfect on my 2011 STI and gave the front a nice looking finish. Super easy Installation!
I put this grill, the middle grill and the apr brake ducts on at the same time. Mine did not come with the label on the lower right. The process of drilling holes into my car always terrified me, but it's well worth it. I thought it was going to be a 30 minutes job but it took about 2 hours. I expect if I was only installing this it might have taken 45 minutes. The instructions are not exact but were close enough that the installer can guess how the rest should be assembled. I did muck up drilling my holes as the grill had shifted when I went to mark them. I suggest placing the U clips on the bumper and lining up where they should go with the grill and drilling a smaller pilot hole first through the u clip.
Shipping from RSD was super fast. Overall grill fits well and looks pretty good. I definitely recommend taking the bumper off - takes 5 mins to remove and makes the rest of the install extremely easy. Needed a helper only to mark the locations to drill (easier to have someone hold grill while you mark).
Grill pattern doesnt match the stock upper grill, which is kind of disappointing. Otherwise its a solid product.

How similar is this product to the look of the stock upper grill?

A: From a distance it looks similar, but it is not hard to tell there are clear differences between the two. I recommend checking some of the supplied customer photos on this page and make a decision.

Q: No grill on bottom, right? ethanfink5 years ago
Are the bottom grills a standard OEM feature? I was installing my front license plate on my new 2014 WRX, and it looks like the bottom gap has no grill at all. I was thinking I just lost mine, but then looked for the part on Subaru.com and couldn't find it at all. Then I searched for other stock grills I find on the internet. Is this really the case? Check out this photo of this STI it looks like nothing in on the bottom grill area (this is how my car looks as well).: http://images.thetruthaboutcars.com/2012/12/11-09-04-iaa-by-RalfR-124.jpg If so this is kind of unsightly and thought it could damage some of the engine insides without some sort of protection. This almost makes this project a must do... RSD is this the case? Or did my bottom grill just fly off somewhere?

A: Your car does not come from the factory with a lower grill and a grill is not necessary, but it can help to protect the AC condenser, which is mounted behind the bumper.

A: We have seen these used with FMIC's with no problem. As long as the FMIC you are using does not require a significant portion of the bumper to be trimmed it should be no issue.
