Installed this along with an exedy stage 1 clutch in my 2011 wrx. The flywheel is a great upgrade for road course use, allowing for much faster rev-matching and almost immediate response between the throttle and power being delivered to the tires. I do drive the car on the street on the odd nice day. I personally wouldn’t consider putting this in if it was a daily driver, as it requires more slipping of the clutch and a lot of throttle for hill starts and getting in and out of the driveway. I did increase the idle speed 250 rpm and it is much smoother at idle and helps with getting going. About 1000 miles in so far and no misfires or other issues. Super happy with my purchase.
My set up - 2007 WRX, 21PSI peak my tune I did, stage 1 clutch, CAI, turbo back. I have been using this flywheel for over 1400miles. You do feel a difference vs stock in a DD. I have thrown a mis fire before when I run a stock tune but not sure if its the flywheel or other issues as this was a used car and is on its 5th short block and now 3rd cam sprocket replacement on both sides from the previous owner never changing fluids. On my tune I have done over 900 miles and not thrown any codes which most people will put on a tune if they get this and other bolt ons. When letting off the gas and coasting on a off ramp its a little noisy. RPMs can jump very quickly. I have seen some increase their 0-60 and 1/4 times up to .2seconds but I had a decease of .05-.1 seconds if not the same once I got used to the drop in weight. I'm very happy I bought this for my project.
I have the 10.1 lb flywheel behind my eg33 in my rally car paired with a ACT HD clutch. This flywheel allows the engine to rev quick as lightning. Wonderful for heel toe shifting and rapid gear changes. A little chatter when not in gear, but thats to be expected. I would not recommend this light of a flywheel for drag racing or a turbo car as it is not great for launching the car unless you have a bit of low end torque. Once your under way, its an absolute dream. Ill use it again when I build another rally car.

Q: Extra ring igv-023 years ago
is the extra ring that comes with this that is installed on the dowel pins supposed to stay on when installed Or is it supposed to be removed before the clutch is installed. I've heard and seen it both ways now.

A: You would want to leave that on for proper pressure plate spacing. Thanks!

A: No, if you have the ACT clutch kit with the 240mm upgrade, you would want to use the ACT flywheel P/N: 600890 https://www.rallysportdirect.com/part/flywheels/act-600890-act-xact-flywheel-streetlite-06-15-subaru-wrx

A: That specific clutch is a proprietary clutch so it will not work with this specific flywheel. Have a nice day.

Q: not for DD? vash33712 years ago
im new to the wrx scene, buying a 2011 sedan. ive been driving an rsx-s w/ the 9.6 prolite flywheel for years DD. other than a cel *which im hoping can be fixed w/ accessport?* is there any other reason to not get this for DD

A: Yes, the CEL can be cleared though the AccessPORT, but it may come back. Basically the Lightweight flywheel tricks the sensors into think that there is a misfire when in reality the car is running great. It will not harm the engine or hurt performance, but it is annoying. And with a stock crank pulley it is possible you may not get a CEL, but with a lightweight pulley, I would suspect that you would see a CEL for sure. Other than the CEL, lightweight flywheels are a fantastic option for someone looking to improve the acceleration and overall performance from their car. Truly an awesome modification.
