This is only for the sedan and will not work on the hatchback.
Some wiring will be required as the USDM cars are not designed to have the rear light installed so they are not pre-wired for it.

Confirmed fit for Subaru XV Crosstrek models (GP chassis)
AWDfreak 5 months ago
This rear fog light will fit all Subaru Impreza and Subaru XV Crosstrek models with the GJ or GP chassis code. For those who refuse to research the chassis codes, this is the model year makeup of what the rear fog light assembly will fit for USA models: Impreza MY 2012 (FB20 engine), MY2013 (FB20 engine), MY2014 (FB20 engine), MY2015, MY2016 XV (Crosstrek) MY2013, MY2014, MY2015, MY2016 It is indeed as bright as the brake lamps. However, I would advise against the use of it as an additional brake lamp as that negates the very purpose of this kit, a rear fog light. As a rear fog light, it has literally saved my rear end in extremely-thick California central valley tule fog, some of the most dense fog anyone can encounter. It is also extremely useful for rainy conditions where taillights are insufficient for safe operation in low-visibility conditions. Installation is an entirely different story. I had to pay a shop to do as I was not willing to deal with wiring it myself. This product is NOT a plug-and-play setup and requires a fundamental understanding of the vehicle electrical system.

I installed the light as a brake light instead of fog; was really debating between the two though. I leave my fog lights on all the time so that means this light would be on all the time as well. Because of that, I decided to make it a brake light. It looks good. I really wish the kit included replacement inserts though; the two black pieces to the sides of the light. I had to cut mine, like many others, and there is a very little gap that bothers me (OCD). Had some difficulties due to the OEM cargo net so anyone looking to install the nets should do it after this. Overall, I like this light and SoA should have pre-wired this option for the USDM.

Q: STI JDM Rear Light Dimensions AdamJP 12 months agoAnswer
Does anyone know the rough dimensions of the rear light? I want to cut it into my hatchback... Thanks!
A: We do not have the exact dimensions, the lower portion tapers a bit.

Q: Anyone wire as a fog light? Mark 1 year agoAnswer
Cannot find a write up on how to wire as a Foglight as opposed to an additional brake light (everyone seems to have done it that way).
A: Unfortunately, this kit does not come with any type of install instructions and we also do not offer any type of write up on this. I would recommend checking the forum pages to source any type or write ups. Thank You!

Does this kit come with written instalation instructions?
A: It does not, fitment is somewhat custom and the light can be wired up a variety of ways depending on if you want it connected to brake lamps or running lights.

Q: Actual, real-world use? AWDfreak 2 years agoAnswer
Anyone actually use the rear fog light for actual inclement weather (instead of this third brake light or JDM look nonsense)? I'm curious how effective the rear fog light is for dense mist (during rainstorms) and dense fog.
A: This is going to be just as bright as your tail lights so it can be effective but nothing substantial.
