This is a big pump that requires big current and must be run with its own dedicated power wire. Tried running with DW hardwire kit through factory sending unit connector and it burned up the power pin. Using with gas tank bulkhead terminals from Radium to run 12G wire all the way to pump. Also had to trim the tube on the sending unit to fit larger pump. Definitely should learn some electronics before attempting install.

Q: Hardwiring dw400 into an 06 Wrx sti Azxandy2 years ago
There are three wires from the connector to the fuel pump. What is the smaller black ground wire for? And will the small black ground wire be needed for part for the deatshwerks hardwiring kit?

A: This would splice into the factory wiring, so you would connect it to the matching factory wiring.

Q: would a tune be required on a 2004 wrx ? chris04wrx3 years ago
would a tune be required on a 2004 wrx? currently on a td06 20G turbo, mishimoto aluminum radiator and tomei exhaust with a gs boost controller no other upgrades currently. would this be overkill for the car when it comes to fuel? or will the ecu tell the car to retart the pressure of the pump?

A: You should not need to get a tune with just the fuel pump, the ECU will adjust as needed with pressure.

A: Hello Niran, The DW400 will not be a direct fit into the 08-18 STI assembly. The physical size of the pump is much larger than the compact pump that comes in the OE assembly. Significant modifications or a different pump assembly/hanger design will likely be required.
