For how much this exhaust costs, you expect it to be perfect, but it seems AWE has quality control issues. The metal on my mufflers came full of deep scratches and gouges on the sides and plenty of very noticeable scratches and swirls on the polished sections as well. The parts were packaged well and had plenty of protection in the box, so I highly doubt those scratches were caused during shipping. I understand the exhaust will be hidden under the car, but when I unboxed my previous exhaust (the Tomei Expreme Ti), the exhaust came in perfect condition, there were zero defects on it and the polished sections were scratch free. The Tomei cost significantly less and it was nothing short of excellent quality, so I'm fairly disappointed with the quality of this more expensive exhaust. The only reason I switched over is because the volume on the Tomei was starting to drive me crazy, so I wanted something that still sounded good, but quieted my setup a bit. Another thing to note is I expected the exhaust to be heavier than my Tomei since titanium is lighter, but I did not expect the exhaust to be so substantially heavy. When I pick both exhausts up, one of the mufflers on the AWE feels like the same weight as the entire Tomei catback. One last thing to know, if you're running an aftermarket downpipe, you will need a downpipe to stock catback adaptor since AWE uses the same 2.5" flange design as the factory catback. Overall, if you're still set on buying this exhaust like I was, I would not recommend buying it at full price. At full price, I would recommend saving some more and buying the Cobb titanium cat back.

Q: Adapter? 2918 fro_STI3 years ago
So I’ve been reading and want to get this exhaust but a few people have been saying that they would need an adapter for an aftermarket downpipe, where could I get this adapter? Is it just the grimmspeed adapter?

A: This exhaust will not require an adapter to use with a stock downpipe. It will reuse the same oem style donut gasket as the factory catback.

Q: DB levels loudest rpms? 3rd Rally Blue 4 years ago
I have a 18 STI with R400, Sounds Great BUT BIG BUT the loudest point on this and everyother exhaust is 2800-3200rmps. I like to cruz at that speed and its too much. I love a loud exhaust had 4 different ones on my 2006 STI. But stock is only one that gets louder in sinc as rpms rise. So if i floor it i want it loud but if Im interstate for 2 hours that blahhhh at 2500-3000 can get old fast. So what is DB profile or curve on the AWE?

A: While this exhaust would certainly help, we cannot confirm DB ratings for certain RPM's.
