Here, you are looking at the Faction Fab Timing Belt Guide. The factory Subaru timing belt guides are made out of thin and flimsy steel and have a limited range of adjustment. The Faction Fab Timing Belt Guides feature billet 6061-T6 construction and are engineered to better surround the timing belt. The result provides an additional range of adjustment to reduce the chances of a skipping belt along with a reduction in deflection if the timing belt does try to skip.

In all honesty, this item is COMPLETELY unnecessary as the factory timing belt main guide (just above the toothed crank pulley) should be more than sufficient for preventing unwanted movement of the timing belt. That being said, this is a nicely machined piece of black anodized aluminum (as opposed to stamped steel) with higher-quality bolts (despite being allen-head) than what Subaru has provided from the factory, and is the same width as the belt (factory guide is only about 2/3 the width of the belt, so if it ever did try to jump or otherwise make contact, it is *possible* that this could create an uneven wear spot on the belt). It is also slightly adjustable with oblong mounting holes so you can get just the right fit. Since you'll need to remove the stock timing belt guide to change the timing belt anyway, you might as well upgrade to something that is the same width as the belt, just in case a bit of contact ever does occur. Compared to other offerings, and having seen what others are saying about competing aftermarket timing belt guides, this one should be your first choice if you've decided not to stay stock.
