Grimmspeed Top Mount Intercooler Charge Pipe Kit Black
Subaru WRX 2015+
Features & Product Details
The Grimmspeed Top Mount Intercooler Charge Pipe Kit has been designed to replace the factory plastic pipes on the factory top mount intercooler. These pipes are larger in diameter and feature smooth bends that reduce the amount of turbulence under boost which provides a smooth transition of power under boost. The stock pipes are restrictive, and plastic which over time can become weathered in some instances, and could cause a boost leak.
The Grimmspeed pipes are 2.5" and are fabricated from US 6061 aluminum, and will come in a black powder-coated finish for extra protection against rust and corrosion. Additionally, it adds a cleaner look to the engine bay. These pipes do not require the relocation of the factory bypass valve, and will come ready to install with a set of black silicone couplers, along with the required clamps.

Recommend buying this if your already working on replacing you TMIC already. Install The install is not bad if you remove one of the radiator fans to allow more room to work. You car ramps too this made it very easy to work underneath. Performance You can feel it spool up faster and get into boost quicker.
Installed this with the grimmspeed topmount. Quick install. NOTE: there are (2) places where I immediately got rubbing/rattling. The first was against my aftermarket airbox, the AEM one. If you're going to use this pipe, make sure your box is smaller in width than AEMs. Also there's a place where the pipe knocks against the engine, I ended up ordering a piece of high temp rubber and a large zip tie. Not very glamorous.
I wanted a charge pipe that retained the stock BPV location. I had the killer b pipe before this and it was nice but I wasn't confident in the seal coming off the turbo given the rapidly changing diameters forcing you to use skinny clamps. The grimmspeed pipe has more of a natural diameter change and it allows you to use better thick hose clamps. Not only is this better for maintaining a seal but I have to imagine air flows better through more natural bends.
Once you pull the stock charge pipe off you will quickly lose any buyers remorse. The stock pipe—if you can call it a pipe—is very restrictive. Consider an EBCS while your at it. Grimmspeed product is top notch. Instructions somewhat unclear on where the charge pipe should end up after install, e.g., how close to the engine. I just installed mine snug against the engine rather than risk it rattling by keeping it a few millimeters away from everything.
