TOP COILOVER CHOICES FOR YOUR SUBARU WRX

When asking new or seasoned enthusiasts, what's the first suspension modification they should perform? The knee-jerk reaction off the top of the head will be coilovers. But why? 

Coilovers are arguably the most popular suspension upgrade available to the entire automotive industry. If you have ever installed lowering springs, or have paid another shop to install lowering springs, then you know how labor-intensive the work can be. You rent a spring compressor from your local auto parts store. Then you have to begin the process of removing your stock spring and strut setup. Depending on the year of your Subaru WRX, this can either go one of two ways, and that is straightforward and somewhat simple. Or you have every tool sprawled out in the garage or driveway while fighting over that extremely long upper control arm bolt, just before trying to fight with the entire knuckle and axle assembly to get enough clearance to get the spring and strut assembly out. All for 3/4 to a little over an inch of difference with lowering springs. Now with coilovers, the majority of the selections that we offer will include top hats. It is a matter of taking them out of the box and re-installing them, then adjusting the ride height to your preference. But, at least you have a wider range of adjustment if you are not satisfied with the height, and it takes a fraction of the time to make height adjustments when compared to lowering springs. 

Here, let's talk about some of the most commonly purchased sets of coilovers for your Subaru WRX, STI, or even earlier Impreza models. These will vary depending on price, other levels of adjustment, if they include top hats, and if the front top hats are camber adjustable. Other things to consider are if they are height adjustable through the strut body rather than the lower spring perch. More importantly, they all share the same common function which is the ability to lower your Subaru with the strut and spring setup still installed on the car. Note that these examples are just examples on our site and are model-specific. There will be differences in the pricing depending on what year your WRX or STI is, and some models will offer different spring rates as well.

These include all of the awesome features that the BR models will have, but for the 2002-2005 WRX and STI models, this particular set will include rear camber plates.
