I ordered this tool bc I was tired of using my garage made tool. And I didn’t want to scratch up my nice new fluidampr pulley. I needed to remove a Perrin light weight pulley and replace it with a fluidampr pulley. This tool fits both OEM & Perrin pulley perfectly. The fluidampr pulley has 3 holes vs the 4 in OEM and does NOT fit the fluidampr pulley our of the box. To fit the Fluidampr pulley I bought 3 bolts from the hardware store that fit the fluidampr (5/16-18) Cut the heads off to make studs. Then I drilled one of the smaller holes in the tool to about 3/8” -1/2” Install two studs into fluidampr pulley, slide over modded tool and it works perfect. I can still use the tool the way it was intended plus now I can remove my new fluidampr pulley.
A certainly most def tool you will need if you wanna get your crank pulley off , I just went ahead and use this to hold it place and let it hit somewhere in the engine bay since i was bymeslf didn’t have anyone else hold it and used a breaker bar along with the end of your jack pole over the breaker bar and that’s all she wrote the bolt came off
We were stuck needing to remove an over tightened crank pulley bolt. Fifth gear and brakes weren't holding. Impact guns weren't budging it. Even towed it to a local shop where they tried a torch with impact guns. I ordered this (and rec'd it amazingly fast, BTW). We were able to use the larger bolts. They fit right in the stock crank pulley and we braced the handle on the inside of the passenger fender. I used some old black pipe as a cheater bar and was finally able to get the bolt out. I had to use two breaker bars as we broke the first one. The whole time this tool held firm. 2005 Impreza 2.5L NA with stock crank pulley
This tool worked as described and easily holded the pulley while I tightened the crank bolt. The only problem was the quality of the tool. It had scratches on the face of it and one of the threaded holes was not deburred and still had material in the hole. I was surprised to find this as it included a signed card showing it was inspected before shipping. Other than this I was happy with the product.
This tool has helped me more than I had expected it too. It has worked on every Subaru I have put it up against and even saved me on a few Volkswagens I service
